(warm applause)
"Thank you! Let me begin with some sentimental appeals to our national myths; assorted clichés coined by the state; the ideological shorthand meant to sweep your private doubts [away] of this virtual training course. This portal; this Trojan Horse that you living idiots paid for and actually rolled into your own kids' rooms."
(stunned silence)
about critical thinking and the scientific method. We'll teach you and your children to submit to the authority of the state without question or hesitation. Because, as we all know, obedience is the highest virtue in a world at constant war. So come, join us! Give us your children! Let us mold them into the weapons of our empire, the gears of our economy, the stepping stones to our dreams of total domination. Die Jugend Marschiert!"
Propagandhi's "Die Jugend Marschiert" is a scathing critique of military recruitment strategies and the indoctrination of youth into a culture of obedience and violence. The song begins with the introduction of Colonel Casey Wardynski, a champion of the sanctioned use of armed force in pursuit of policy objectives, and the project director of a new recruitment strategy at West Point Academy. He delivers a speech that appeals to national myths and ideological shorthand to lure young people into becoming "weapons of our empire." The song suggests that this recruitment process is essentially a Trojan Horse, a portal through which the military gains access to the homes and minds of unsuspecting parents and children.

Thank you! Let me begin with some sentimental appeals to our national myths; assorted clichés coined by the state; the ideological shorthand meant to sweep your private doubts [away] of this virtual training course.
Colonel Wardynski is using rhetoric to manipulate the audience and delude them into thinking that the country's myths and clichés will protect their children in this virtual training course.
This portal; this Trojan Horse that you living idiots paid for and actually rolled into your own kids' rooms.
The virtual training course is a trap that parents unwittingly brought into their own homes and allowed to threaten their children's safety.
Oops, did I just say that out loud? Oh, well, it's not like it's something new.
Colonel Wardynski is admitting that his message is not new but is simply the same message the government has been perpetuating for decades.
It's just the logical extension of the decades of bilge water that you've let us pump into your homes.
The government has been polluting people's homes with harmful ideas for years and parents have allowed it to happen by not challenging them.
The pink noise that hums away in the background while you run the gauntlet we force on you everyday.
The government uses subtle propaganda to influence people's thinking, and they force people to go through difficult trials every day to prepare them for their agenda.
The billowing candy floss that helps to soften the blow.
The government uses fluffy content to sugarcoat the harsh reality of their agenda.
Deep down you've always known that your children already belong to us, so why don't you cut the outraged parent routine, shut your mouth and get back in your seat.
The government believes it has control over children's lives and parents should stop pretending otherwise and blindly accept the government's authority.
Your children already belong to us. What are you? You will pass on. And they won't know a fucking thing but this 'community,' this real life Ender's Game.
The government believes they own children's minds and future, and once the parents are gone, the children will become part of the community and partake in a real-life Ender's Game, a reference to a book about children being prepared for war.

I hope to meet him sometime in the future. If I were on stage I`d do it like him. I love the way he holds the guitar, i love his voice. And I love what they tell the world. This is my favourite band for nearly 25 Years. I cant get enough of. And its good that they do not the intro to this song. I know exactly what the they mean but you cant put it on stage. As a german i know these words and you cant be proud of them. But it fits the whole song of course. But its nothing to can sing along... Thank you guys for beeing here!
