1) Prototype … Read Full Bio ↴There are at least six bands by the name of Prototype:
1) Prototype is a progressive metal/thrash metal band, with at least two of its members from Los Angeles.
In 1994, Kragen Lum (guitar) and Vince Levalois (vocals, guitar) left the LA band "Psychosis", and decided to form a new band, Prototype.
They found a new drummer (Damion Ramirez) and bassist (Steve Gambina), and began recording new compositions of their critically acclaimed "Seed" demo under the name Prototype. The cassette contained only three songs, "Seed", "Shine" and "Dead Of Jericho". All three tracks later appeared on two more of their CDs. Critics worldwide praised the demo and even referred to it as a benchmark for today's progressive metal.
In 1997, Lum, Levalois, new drummer Pat Magrath (now a permanent member of the group) and new basist Mike Bear recorded their next CD as Prototype - "Cloned".
In 1999, the band found a new bassist, Kirk Scherer.
However, in 2002, Pat Magrath left the band, the band has still not appointed a replacement drummer. In 2002 the band appeared on "Phantom Lords - A Tribute to Metallica" covering Metallica's song "Battery".
In 2003, five songs from their album Trinity were featured on the soundtrack for the game True Crime: Streets of LA.
In 2004, an instrumental version of the song "Probe" was featured on the MTX Mototrax video game.
In 2006, the song "Synthespian", featured on Continuum appeared on Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam for Nintendo's Wii gaming platform.
On the band's latest CD "Continuum", original drummer Damion Ramirez handled the drumming with Pat Magrath guesting on one track. The song "The Way it Ends", off Continuum, is featured in the video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. It is considered one of the more difficult songs in the game.
Kragen, Vince and Kirk were endorsed by Jackson Guitars for two years and appeared in the product catalogs. Kragen's custom seven string Soloist was featured in the catalog's custom shop guitars.
2) Prototype, the oshare kei band, began in 2000 and is still active with their current line-up.

Summoning your end
The signal to transcend
Sight of order we regress
Thrills of chaos reign
Sentient loss unveiled
Replace deficiency
Retrieve the thought that caused your
Scorn
And call it trinity
Passion with such energy
Cleansing poison
Modern vision
Of virtuosity
Remember what you are
Flesh of holy nothingness
A prisoner of your god
Distilled, infectious reckoning
Ravenous minds abound
The future of mankind
Forget your destiny
Replace complacency
Release the fire that burnt your soul
And call it trinity
Passion with such energy
Cleansing poison
Modern vision
Of virtuosity
Indifference over argument
Listen without word
Filter out, subvert
Reaping radiant benefit
Redeem your conscious mind
Impart, retain, subscribe
Forget your destiny
Replace deficiency
Retrieve the thought
That caused your scorn
And call it trinity
Passion with such energy
Cleansing poison
Modern vision of virtuosity
The lyrics of Prototype's song "Trinity" are a call to action to challenge one's destiny and overcome personal limitations. The "triad strain" mentioned in the opening line refers to the three-part harmony that runs throughout the song, symbolizing the unity of mind, body, and spirit necessary to achieve transcendence. The lyrics urge the listener to forget their preconceived destiny and replace it with a sense of purpose and passion, fueled by the cleansing poison of chaos and the virtuosity of modern vision.
The song's message is both personal and universal, encouraging individuals to find their own trinity while recognizing their connection to humanity's collective destiny. The lyrics acknowledge the inherent conflict between order and chaos, and the struggle to find balance between them. The song frames this struggle as a necessary step in achieving personal growth and spiritual advancement.
Overall, "Trinity" is a powerful meditation on the human condition and the search for meaning in a chaotic world. It is a call to embrace one's own potential and strive for personal excellence while recognizing our collective responsibility to create a better future for all.

I LOVE THEM- It's a thrash metal / progressive / death band that sounds UNIQUE !!! It has that clear influence of ride the lightning, with that technicality of Cynic and Death, a speed at times to the classic of symphony x, you can NOT ask for more (with the years they improve)
Marcos Relva

Thank you! We recorded this in our rehearsal room and mixed it in a living room, 21 years ago! The only "pro" part was mastering.

@PROTOTYPE You guys should re-release that album. These days no studio is required and it would be awesome to listen to this album again, this time as it should have been. I wonder if you amped and effected the guitars in post prod. If that is the case, you'd probably not need to re-record it.
