Public Enemy has gone through many lineup changes over the years, with Chuck D and Flavor Flav remaining the only constant members. Co-founder Professor Griff left in 1989 but rejoined in 1998, before parting ways again some years later. DJ Lord also joined Public Enemy in 1998 as the replacement of the group's original DJ Terminator X. In 2020, it was announced that Flavor Flav had been fired from the group. His firing was later revealed to be a publicity stunt that was called an April Fools' Day prank. Public Enemy, without Flavor Flav, would also tour and record music under the name of Public Enemy Radio which consists of the lineup of Chuck D, Jahi, DJ Lord and the S1Ws.
Public Enemy's first four albums during the late 1980s and early 1990s were all certified either gold or platinum and were, according to music critic Robert Hilburn in 1998, "the most acclaimed body of work ever by a hip hop act". Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine called them "the most influential and radical band of their time". They were inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013. They were honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 62nd Grammy Awards.

Talkin' loud ain't sayin' nothin'
The mack of the format gettin' fat
Ain't funny 'cause my neighborhood
Is flowin' money
Thank God 4 the boulevard
They keep the motor runnin'
The rap shows coincide wit' the tape flow
They get me, get this now can you freestyle
Freestyle no styles free except da radio
But the radio controlled by the sucker move
Who moved away got away after plannin' a getaway
An now he want to play what he want to play
An got say on what is bumpin' of course he's gettin' somethin'
Never know what's good to tha neighborhood
Swear I never seen da sucker
In my necka da woods
The ass is connected to the brain stem
So I sing a simple song
So you can see the sucker in 'em
People got to make a call
To hear the yes y'all (yes y'all)
While the phone keep ringin'
You hear some singer singin'
Why don't dey play the jammy in the daytime
People think it's slammin' plus the rhyme
Is hot an got me tunin'
The afternoon is FM in the PM
Oh if that they could see 'I'm
Out-of-towner not down I think they'll dis him
Up goes the season, pop goes the weasel
Damn gimme rap no band I want some x-clan
I know dey even got it from the giddy
Stacked in the back
Only black radio station in the city
Programmed by a sucker in a suit
Slick back hair he don't even live here
Raps the number one pick so I draft it
I don't care about all the other demographics
When the quiet storm come on I fall sleep
What dey need is Arbitron on the funky jeep
Too bad it's goin' on in fact my word is bond
To pull a disappearin' act attack until he gone
The whacker jam he play they pay I'm in da day
I don't think we gonna miss 'I'm we don't need 'I'm anyway
Can I kick it
Who the hell is on the radio
Or who's behind
Do you really think they'll mind
To play the funky jams
That everybody wit'
Some Def Jef or Ice T
Show they rollin' wit' the syndicate
Or can dey get funky
Wit' the underground
Master ace get a taste
Bomb squad gettin' hard
Marley mart makin' hipper
Trax for Jack The Ripper
Pumpin' Eric be or Papa San
Still rollin' wit' run
Did you think that ever
In fact you thought that never
Control of your soul
Is by a suit and tie
Then you wonder why why you never hear a rhyme
I say we do 'I'm
Till it's done
The song 'How to Kill a Radio Consultant' by Public Enemy is a commentary on the music industry, and the dark side of commercialization. The first verse speaks about how the neighborhood is making money, and how the boulevard keeps the motor running. However, the radio is controlled by a "sucker move", who is controlling what plays and what doesn't. This person wants to play what he wants to play and is getting paid for it, regardless of what the neighborhood wants or needs. The lyrics point out that the root of the issue is that the radio is controlled by people who are not a part of the community and only care about profit. The chorus highlights how people have to make a call to the station to hear the "yes y'all", but still only get to hear conventional singers, and why don't they play the funky jammy in the daytime.
The second verse speaks about how they only care about certain demographics and how the music industry is unfair to certain artists. The song has a strong message that the commercialization of the music industry is detrimental to the art form itself. It points out how the radio controls what we hear, and people do not even realize that their soul is controlled by a suit and tie. The song is a protest and a call to artists to take control of their music and make something different.

@ALPHA even "MISHA" the person you responded to can look up the information if they so choose,,, knowledge and information is sought by choice... Unfortunately MOST people in the world have simply and without question accepted the REALITY of which THEY presented to them !!!
And when it turns out that there ARE counter claims against the so-called "accepted" world view by MANY different different people and sources,,, I myself DON'T just take someone's say so on whatever topic aaannnddd regardless of THAT person's or organizations so-called "credentials" "degrees" or "status" ,,, ANYONE could be the one LYING and deceiving aaannnddd the ONLY way to figure out which side is true,,, is to open mindedly analyze the information and evidence of both sides and decide for yourselves !!! Cheers 🥂

Relentlessly hard funky only PE could do. One of their initial era greats for sure. Nice visuals too, my compliments.
