Wes Scantlin was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Raised in Kansas City, he attended Park Hill High School. After high school, he started the creation of Puddle of Mudd, now now famous for songs such as "Control", "She Hates Me", and "Blurry". Scantlin got his start in the music business after a copy of his demo was given to a friend producer by the name of Fred Durst. Durst enjoyed the demo, but Wes neglected to take any major steps forward with the band. Later, upon hearing that Scantlin's first attempt at a band had failed, Durst decided to bring Scatlin to California in an attempt to put a new band together.
In California Scantlin met Doug Ardito, an intern at Interscope Records. When Scantlin found out about Ardito's bass playing, they decided to work together. Still in pursuit of a guitarist, Fred Durst contacted a guitarist from his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, Paul Phillips. Phillips auditioned for the spot in Puddle of Mudd, and upon acceptance, left college to join the band full time. A drummer was also recruited from Jacksonville, however, via creative differences, left the band before it achieved any mainstream media attention.
The name of the band was inspired by the Missouri River flood, where the band in its early days performed and practiced. The large amount of pressure from the equipment left the floor a big "puddle of mud."
Puddle of Mudd is signed to Fred Durst's record label, Flawless Records.
In 2005 two members, Paul Phillips and Greg Upchurch, left the band. Greg currently drums for 3 Doors Down while Paul, now playing in Society Red, left citing creative and personal differences.
Their song "Control" was the official theme song of WWE's Survivor Series pay-per-view event in November 2001, and their song "Nothing Left to Lose" was the official theme song of WWE's Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in January 2004.
Their second album, "Come Clean" spawned 4 hits in 2003 and has sold 5 million albums to date. Their follow up, "Life on Display" spawned 1 hit single and sold 600,000 albums. In 2007, the band released "Famous", which takes a general rock as well as "nu-grunge" approach.
The band is currently working on a live album that is slated for release in 2008.
They have released their fourth album "Songs in the Key of Love and Hate"
Current members of the band include :
Wes Scantlin : Vocal, Rythmn.
Doug Ardito : Backing Vocals, Bass.
Paul Phillips: Lead Guitar
Ryan Yerdon: Drums
Spin You Around

Come on over the mountain
And I'll meet you at the other side
Come on over the mountain
And I'll meet you at the other side, yeah
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
I would spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Oh
I'd spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
If you'll be my woman
I will take you to another high
If you'll be my lady
I will take you for another ride
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
If I saw you dancing
I would spin you around, spin you around
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
I can turn you around
I'd spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Spin you around, spin you around
Turn your world upside down
Oh
Maybe, baby
Upside down
I'm gonna spin you around
Maybe, lady
Upside down
I'm gonna spin you
around
The lyrics of Puddle of Mudd's song "Spin You Around" revolve around the idea of being in love and the desire to bring joy and excitement into a partner's life. The song opens with an invitation to meet on the other side of a mountain, a metaphor for overcoming obstacles and taking a leap of faith. The lead singer then expresses his willingness to spin his lover around if he saw her dancing, both literally and figuratively, in order to turn her world upside down and bring about a sense of wonder and adventure. He repeats this phrase throughout the song, emphasizing his desire to be a source of happiness and change for his significant other.
In the second verse, the lyrics become even more clear about the romantic intentions of the song. The singer promises to take his partner to new heights, to another high, and for another ride, all in an effort to impress and bring about feelings of excitement and adventure in the relationship. The repetition of "spin you around, spin you around" becomes a chorus-like refrain, emphasizing the central idea that the lead singer wants to take control and be a catalyst for the changes he desires in the relationship. The bridge is more poetic in nature, imagining the idea of maybe baby or maybe lady, but is still centered around the idea of taking someone on a whirlwind adventure.
Overall, the lyrics of "Spin You Around" are a celebration of love and the desire to be a positive and transformative force in someone's life. The repetition of the chorus reinforces the idea that the lead singer is focused on the action of spinning someone around and bringing them a sense of joy, rather than merely saying the words. The song's upbeat tempo and catchy melody helps to drive home the sense of excitement and energy that comes with the idea of falling in love.

Poop Gang
This band deserves way more attention then they are getting. Their songs actually have meaning to them. There not talking about drugs and all the other gangster shit. This is real music.
Bob Olson
The lead singer has major issues, or they would be super popular.
