Pulley's debut, Esteem Driven Engine, was released in 1996 by Epitaph. Riddle joined No Use for a Name full-time soon afterwards and was replaced by Tyler Rebbe. Follow-ups included 60 Cycle Hum in 1997 and their eponymous third album in 1999.
They also released Together Again for the First Time (after the death of Jim Cherry) and Matters, both showing their disillusionment with the aging out of the 'old' scene.

but there's no where I can turn to look for help
and everything I wanted to come clear
and every thing I used to fear
is just a memory of the past and it's not long ago
You walk alone, outside it's only you
when you wake up from the nightmares, its always you
The afternoon, the ghost's not there, the sun is blinding
and the same rain fell on my roof not on hers
and everything i would so did confess
and everything that smells unconscious
there is good luck spinning all around but it's not real
You walk alone, outside, its only you
when you wake up from the nightmares, its always you
now you find you're in a world that's without you
I can't believe I'd fight for you, for you
You walk alone, outside the streets, its only you
when you wake up from the nightmares, its always you
now you find you're in a world that's without you
I can't believe I'd fight for you, for you
You walk alone, outside, its only you
when you wake up from the nightmares, its always you
now you find you're in a world that's without you
I can't believe I'd fight for you, for you
The lyrics of Pulley's song Bloodstain portray a feeling of loneliness and hopelessness, as the singer seems to be trapped in a difficult situation with no one to turn to for help. The first verse talks about the struggle of feeling like life is hanging by a string without any way to escape – this could be interpreted as feeling like everything is out of control and there's no way to improve the situation. The chorus further emphasizes the loneliness, as the singer walks alone outside and is constantly haunted by nightmares.
The second verse shifts into a description of the present moment, highlighting the contrast between the singer's experience and that of someone else. The rain falls on his roof but not on hers, suggesting that he's experiencing something negative while others around him aren't. He confesses his feelings, but they go unnoticed, and good luck seems to be spinning around but not reaching him. The final chorus repeats the themes of loneliness and desperation, with the singer walking alone and realizing that he's in a world without himself.
