The group formed in 2008 when Jones began playing Brooklyn venues to practice guitar, with the help of Dobson. They were then joined by Popper, and the three began working together to expand creatively. Some of the group's early shows were in front of friends and done just for fun as they covered songs they loved.[3] In an interview with The Boston Globe published July 17, 2014, Jones describes the first shows as "never stressful because it was loose and nobody was coming but our friends." Dobson adds, "We were just playing shows and coming together as our schedules went along. It was just about playing music and not having an agenda of any kind

We've seen some dreams and we've tried hard to make them last
We've learned a lot along our way
So in simple words I will try to say
That I love you and I can't believe that we've come this far
So long may you run
May your song be sung
Before your time has come
Now much has been said about the man
When waves were his music and he gazed out from the sand
And though there was much he could never say
With these simple sounds I will try to play
Because I know
That he loved you and he's smiling down upon you now
So long may you run
May your song be sung
And may you never go
Before your time has come
You've seen the change that comes with time
And you've disbelieved the page that reads your life defined
And though I might never find my way
With these simple words you know I will try to say
That I love you and I always tried to do you proud
So long may you run
May your song be sung
And may you never go
Before your time has come
"These Days with You" by Puss N Boots is a heartfelt song that reflects on the passage of time and the deep love and admiration the singer has for someone close to them. The lyrics celebrate their shared experiences, dreams, and the effort they have put into making those dreams last. It is evident that they have learned valuable lessons along the way, and in their own simple words, they express their love and amazement at how far they have come together.
The chorus of the song, "So long may you run, May your song be sung, And may you never go before your time has come," conveys the singer's desire for the person they are addressing to thrive and flourish. The phrase "so long may you run" suggests that they want this person to continue moving forward in their journey with strength and determination. They hope that their voice and presence will be heard and appreciated by others, while also expressing a wish that they will never leave this world prematurely.
The song also pays homage to someone who has passed away, referred to as "the man." It is revealed that this person found solace in the beauty of nature, particularly the waves and the sand. Although there were things left unsaid by this individual, the singer believes that they loved the person they are addressing and that they are now watching over them with a smile. It highlights the lasting impact and love left behind by someone who may no longer be physically present.
Through the lyrics, there is a recognition of the changes that time brings, and how it can sometimes challenge one's perception of their own life. The singer acknowledges the skepticism they feel towards the notion that their life is defined by a single page. Despite any uncertainty, they declare their unwavering love and commitment to always trying to make the person they are addressing proud.
In summary, "These Days with You" is a tender and poignant reflection on the passage of time, the love shared between two individuals, and the importance of cherishing every moment.
