These Are the Days of Our Lives

Sometimes I get to feelin'
I was back in the old days - long ago
When we were kids, when we were young
Things seemed so perfect - you know ?
The days were endless, we were crazy - we were young
The sun was always shinin' - we just lived for fun
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
The rest of my life's been - just a show
Those were the days of our lives
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing is true
When I look and I find I still love you
You can't turn back the clock, you can't turn back the tide
Ain't that a shame ?
Ooh, I'd like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride
When life was just a game
No use in sitting and thinkin' on what you did
When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids
Sometimes it seems like lately - I just don't know
Better sit back and go - with the flow
'Cos these are the days of our lives
They've flown in the swiftness of time
These days are all gone now but some things remain
When I look and I find - no change
Those were the days of our lives yeah
The bad things in life were so few
Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true

When I look and I find, I still love you
I still love you

Overall Meaning

" These Are the Days of Our Lives" is a song by Queen, released in 1991 as a part of their Album, "Innuendo." The song is famously known as being the last song recorded by Freddie Mercury before his death. It is a nostalgic reflection on youth, love, and the passage of time. The song depicts a person who is contemplating their life and how things have changed over the years. It starts with the singer feeling like they are back in the old days, reminiscing about their childhood and the happy memories they have. They recall how everything seemed perfect when they were young, and how they just lived for fun. The song then shifts to the present, where the singer realizes that their youth is long gone and that they cannot turn back time. They reflect on how few bad things they experienced in life back then, how things have changed, and how they still love the person they loved all those years ago.

The lyrics suggest that the passage of time is inevitable and that we should make the most of every moment. It is a poignant reminder to cherish the people and the moments that matter most to us. The song's chorus emphasizes that those were the days of their lives and how the bad things in life were so few, making it clear that the person singing the song was happy with everything that they had in life, despite its fleeting nature.

The song is also famous for its video, which featured shots of a frail Freddie Mercury, who was battling AIDS and recording the song in his last days alive. The video became legendary since it served as his posthumous farewell to his fans, and the song remains an essential tribute to the man who was one of the most significant figures in the history of rock music.

Sinar matahari datang merayap masuk
Menyinari kulit kita
Kami menyaksikan hari berlalu
Kisah-kisah tentang semua yang kami lakukan
Itu membuat saya memikirkan Anda
Itu membuat saya memikirkan Anda

Di bawah satu triliun bintang
Kami menari di atas mobil
Mengambil foto panggung
Jauh dari tempat kita sekarang
Mereka membuatku memikirkanmu
Mereka membuatku memikirkanmu

Oh lampu mati
Selama sisa hidup kita

Saya di negara asing
Pikiranku mereka menyelinap pergi
Kata-kataku meninggalkanku
Mereka pergi ke tempat lain
Karena aku memikirkanmu
Hanya dari pikiranmu

Oh lampu mati
Selama sisa hidup kita

Jika sayap ini bisa terbang

Oh lampu mati
Selama sisa hidup kita

I lost the love of my life…and needed to run away from the pain. This song (literally) gave me a reason to start physically running. And with every step it helped me not only heal but remember and honor what we shared. Us. We shared us…we were beyond lucky to find us, even if it was only for a year. We love what we loved. I miss him, US,…but I run…and I smile.

7 years and an engagement. I am grieving so much after this break up. I'm trying to put the pieces together but they make no sense right now.
