Raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, R&B vocalist Queen Naija first became known as a contestant on multiple seasons of American Idol in the early 2010s. Following that, she became famous as an internet personality for her YouTube channel Chris & Queen. On the channel, Naija (also known as Queen Sails) and her husband Chris Sails would post various humorous videos with an emphasis on elaborate pranks. At the very end of 2017, amid some serious relationship issues, she decided to focus on her music again.
In 2018 she signed a contract with the record label 'Capitol Records', thus starting her solo career. Her debut single, "Medicine", was released in June 2018 and reached 45th place on the Billboard Hot 100. Three weeks later came the second single, "Karma", which came in 63rd position in the standings. An EP titled "Queen" Naija came out on July 27 and debuted in 26th place on the Billboard 200.

Bet they hear these words and call me foolish (so foolish)
Call me stupid, like what the Hell I'm doin'? (Yeah, yeah)

Ain't got no time to press you 'bout them hoes that you been screwin' up
'Cause I know where I stand
Know I got the key to your heart in my nightstand
As you thought it was, nigga you'll be comin' right back, right back
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
Cryin' ain't gon' fix it so I'm still here
Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah
Long as you respect the way I do feel

Don't want broken promises, don't want apologies
Long as you don't see nobody that I hang with

All this love waitin' just for you
So don't pass it up 'cause you'll regret it too
All this love waitin' just for you
So don't pass it up 'cause you'll regret it too, ooh, ooh (don't lie to me, don't lie to me)
Slide to Malibu and have some beach sex (beach sex)
Cummin' back to back, she hittin' goals that she ain't reach yet (reach yet)
She ain't all romantic 'cause I'm too deep inside this street shit (street shit)
Lick her neck she shakin', I ain't get down to her feet yet (feet yet)
'Cause you accept me for my past but ain't no drama here (no drama here)
Ain't know about credit, I tried to buy her ass with Obamacare (Obamacare)
Say I'm disrespectful, I'm tryna fuck even though her mama there

They don't understand our arrangement
In “Lie to Me,” Queen Naija explores the idea of knowing when a relationship is not perfect but still wanting to stay together. The chorus, “Love me good and lie to me” exemplifies this theme, acknowledging that things may not always be perfect, but she would rather not know the truth if it means sacrificing the relationship. Naija also touches on her partner's infidelity but chooses to look past it, trusting that she knows where she stands with him. The line, “'Cause you accept me for my past but ain't no drama here,” suggests that her partner accepts her despite her past mistakes and, in return, she chooses to turn a blind eye to his. The verses also touch on the idea of acceptance and not conforming to societal expectations, as Queen Naija sings, “They don't understand our arrangement.”
Overall, “Lie to Me” presents a complicated view of a relationship. It acknowledges the imperfections and acknowledges that it goes against what society deems acceptable in a relationship, but still shows a willingness to work through it all.
