Hear Me
Queens Cast Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's not easy to be honest but I'm willing
'Cause I know you need it more than anything I have
I hope you hear me now
I hope you hear me now

I've looked everywhere and I mean every corner
Trying to find a way to let you know I care
I hope you hear me now
I hope you hear me now

I've done a lot of things I hate myself for
But I know you must hate me more

But hear me, I'm standing outside your door
Hear me, I don't wanna be afraid no more
I just wanna love you best I can
And in return, I'll try to understand
All of the hurt I caused when I was lost and weak
I hope that you hear me, oh yeah

I'm not naive to think you wanna hear my story
I know to you it sounds like fiction at its best
Still I hope you hear me now
I hope you hear me now

I've done a lot of things I hate myself for
But I know you must hate me more

But hear me, I'm standing outside your door
Hear me, I don't wanna be afraid no more
I just wanna love you best I can
And in return I'll try to understand
All of the hurt I caused when I was lost and weak
I hope that you hear me, oh, ooh

I won't make you promises
I will do better than that, I will show you
I will show you my better self
I know you're tired of listening
But if you give me one more chance I will show you
I will show you

But hear me, I'm standing outside your door
Hear me, I don't wanna be afraid no more
I just wanna love you best I can
In return, I'll try to understand
All of the hurt I caused when I was lost and weak, yeah

I hope that you hear me

Overall Meaning

The song "Hear Me" by Queens Cast & Brandy is a passionate plea for forgiveness and understanding from a past loved one. The singer admits to having done things they hate themselves for and recognizes that the person they are addressing likely hates them as well. Despite this, they are willing to be vulnerable and honest in hopes that their message is received. The singer says that they have looked "everywhere," implying that they have exhausted all other options and are left with no choice but to confess and ask for forgiveness. The chorus, "Hear me, I'm standing outside your door. Hear me, I don't wanna be afraid no more. I just wanna love you best I can" encapsulates the theme of the song which is a desire to repair a broken relationship by acknowledging faults and making amends.

The first verse begins with the singer acknowledging that it is not easy to be honest, but they are willing to put themselves out there anyway because they know it is what the other person needs. It is a selfless act that speaks to the singer's desire to repair the relationship regardless of how it affects them. The second verse reveals that the singer believes their story will sound like "fiction at its best" to the other person, but they are still willing to try and communicate their feelings. This shows that the singer accepts the possibility that their past actions may have caused irreparable damage to the relationship, but they are still willing to try and make amends.

In the bridge of the song, the singer promises to show their "better self" instead of just making empty promises. They recognize that their past behavior was unacceptable but want to prove that they are capable of change. The final repetition of the chorus, with the addition of the word "yeah," adds a sense of finality to the song. The singer has said all they can say and is now hoping that the other person hears them and is willing to give them another chance.

Overall, "Hear Me" is a powerful song about love, forgiveness, and the importance of honesty in repairing relationships.

Yes God!

@SBonaventureReacts

I love when Brandyโ€™s voice is stripped back like this, no unnecessary vocal editing or autotune like theyโ€™ve done on some of her most recent record. Her voice is crystal clear - she needs no effects ๐Ÿ˜ Her voice is one of a kind

@allthingsspiritual5196

Youโ€™re absolutely right cause B7 I couldnโ€™t understand a lot of those vocals I think DJ camper he produced that album like a fan instead of a real producer All the songs she did with Rodney Jerkins everything sounds so Crystal clear.I love the harmonies and all that stuff but itโ€™s time for her to really start get back into singing
