Do It-To It
Quincy Jones Lyrics

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
Cry if I want to
You would cry too if it's happened to you
Nobody knows where my johnny has gone
But Judy left the same time
Why was he holding her hand
When he's supposed to be mine

Play all my records keep dancing all night
But leave me alone for a while
'Till johnny's dancing with me
I've got no reason to smile

Judy and johnny just walked through that door
Like a queen with her king
Oh what a birthday surprise
Judy's wearing his ring

Thankful that my parents had good taste. I was 10 years old listening to this CD, only having a small sense of the historical significance of what I was consuming. But I was so curios and obsessed with knowing the world that I would sit and study all the album liners, every picture every word every credit. Though this remained in my memories, this particular tune haunted my mind for years, as a faint memory, I failed to make the connection. Until recently I focused on it determined to figure it out once and for all. Somehow Michael Jackson kept to mind, which makes sense, and also chacka, but I felt that wasn't it. and then it hit me.. Quincy. At once I rediscovered a lost part of myself. And now, to really be able to sit back and appreciate the amazing line up on this piece...

Siedah Garrett

Got the only low bass baby
When there ain't no bass around

Oh, we can jam in the human bein' band
(human bein' band)
Come , let's go everybody to the acapella party
Be there - that's where

We be doin' it ( doin' it, doin' it up )

We be doin' it ( doin' it, doin' it up )
Yeah doin' it ( doin' it, doin' it up )
Be groovin' usin' what we got and why not

This song is phenomenal on so many levels ... A testimony to Q's absolute genius as a producer, and the performances he got out of the incredible talent on it.

True! Also, give Sid her due, as she was instrumental in arranging the voices

All the old school greats on this 1. Bobby McFerrin, Al Jareau, Take 6, Ella Fitzgerald, & Sarah Vaugn. These people made instruments with their voices in more ways than 1. My favorite track from that album. My most favorite acappela track ever.

@F Land Music Group This song fills me up with pure joy!!!! I met Siedah Garrett at Adeleโ€™s first concert in Los Angeles 13 years ago and had to tell her that she is a GENIUS songwriter and artist!๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ
