Live In Me
RÜFÜS Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a feeling I just can't deny
It's fire straight from my soul
And it's hot enough to tear you up
Make you lose control

Gonna soothe you, put you in a trance
And get your sense aroused
So there ain't no use in holdin' back
Gotta let that feelin' out

Live in me, come in my life
Fill me with all that sweet delight
I'm burnin' up, steamin' inside
So give me the love I need tonight

Foolin' 'round, you got no time to waste
So baby turn out the light
And let's get down to what to takes
To keep me satisfied
Don't give me dreams I don't want to know
Cause I need something to hold
And action speaks more tenderness
Than words could ever show so

Live in me, come in my life
Fill me with all that sweet delight
I'm burnin' up, steamin' inside
So give me the love I need tonight

Groove with the motion
Let's take it to the top
Ride with the feeling
There's no way I'm gonna stop
I'll give you heaven
To help you through the day
And super lovin'
Takes your breath away

Live in me (just live in me)
come in my life (come in my life)
Fill me with all that sweet delight
(fill me with love, that sweet delight)
I'm burnin' up, steamin' inside
(I'm burnin' up, steamin' inside)

So give me the love I need tonight
(just give me love, I need tonight)

Definitely, listen to the Rufus Albums.
That's some of the best singing I've ever heard by anyone. And of course, the bands great as well.

Rufus (1973)
Rags To Rufus (1974)
Rufisized (1974)
Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan (1975)
Ask Rufus (1977)
Street Player (1978)
Master Jam (1979)
Stompin At The Savoy (1983)

Stupendous singing (both lead and background) by Chaka on those Rufus albums. They really stretched her in so many ways. Just incredible.

When my mother brought this magnificent album into our home, it was the greatest thing ever! I played this album countless times as a new 1979 high school graduate. I am 60 today, it will always be a favorite. Chaka & Rufus was definitely a perfect match made in heaven. 🥰😍❤

James, I couldn't agree with you more. I remember back in the day, I would sit on the floor next the stereo speaker just to hear every musical instrument.

This song makes me cry tears of joy because it takes me back to a much simpler time in life. These days are odd, the music, people hell even the food and this pandemic has amplified everything wrong and made it worse.. But listening to classics from 1968 to 1983 (my personal time frame for good music) will keep me up all night drinking and dancing

@davidjackson1350

This album just totally blew up as I played it day and night in my dorm room while celebrating my graduation from basic training from the U.S. Air Force in the fall of 1979. They need to bring back more music like this!

@sinematic06

While nothing will ever touch those original tunes. I think you would like Anderson Paak, Thundercat, Free Nationals, India Shawn, Lucky Daye. Lot of good stuff out there using funk and live instruments

@raj2tennis

Still one of the best tunes. This entire album can still hold it's own with any music today.
