R.O.L.K. Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sky in view, ocean blue
Running from everything I once knew
Caught up in what could have been
But life takes time to see it through
My distant perceptions vanish one at a time
Come to find the only place left to inspect is found hidden inside
I thought I knew my own limitations
Then I remembered to breathe with no limits inside me
Full circle
It goes full circle
Full circle
Everything goes full circle
Deceptive illusions
Love is not what it seems
When the truth is diluted you've got a right to root in reality
Another full circle is making it's way back around
And there's enough room in the middle to sit still and wait it out
I thought I knew my own limitations
Then I remembered to breathe with the limitless inside me
Full circle
Full circle
Full circle
Everything goes full circle

Back to you
Back to you

Overall Meaning

In R.O.L.K's song "Theory", the lyrics describe a journey of self-discovery and realization. The opening lines "Sky in view, ocean blue, running from everything I once knew" set the scene for a person who has been actively avoiding their past and searching for something new. The next lines "Caught up in what could have been, but life takes time to see it through" implies that the person has been dwelling on their past decisions and missed opportunities, but realizes that time is necessary to fully understand the consequences of their choices. As the song progresses, the person begins to let go of their preconceived notions and beliefs about themselves and the world around them. They come to the realization that the only way to truly understand themselves and their limits is to look inward, to inspect what is "hidden inside". The lines "I thought I knew my own limitations, then I remembered to breathe with no limits inside me" express that the person has gained a newfound sense of freedom and self-awareness.

The chorus of the song emphasizes the idea of everything coming full circle. This means that just as things have a beginning, they also have an end, and often times, they end up back where they started. The lines "Full circle, it goes full circle, everything goes full circle" suggests that the person has come to accept this fact and is now content to let things play out as they will. The song also touches on the theme of love and how it can be deceptive. The lines "Deceptive illusions, love is not what it seems, when the truth is diluted you've got a right to root in reality" express that the person has come to understand that love is not always as simple or as perfect as it initially appears, and that when it is misunderstood, it can lead to disappointment and heartbreak. The song ends with the person reflecting on their journey and realizing that despite all of the changes, they have come "Full circle, back to you, back to you". This implies that the person has come back to a place of familiarity or to a person that they care for deeply.

Hell yeah! Link Wray is probably the most underrated father of rock that we know of. His song rumble was a song with no words but it managed to be banned by airways because it incited street violence. The iconic sound of that guitar was made by poking holes in his amp with a pencil

@jamesadams1064

I hope it was the speaker and not the amp that got poked. Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Was at the R&R HoF shindig in Brooklyn a couple of weeks ago when lo and behold, there was Jimmy Page making a surprise appearance playing Rumble. So awesome.

I remember this riff from when I watched "Screaming Yellow Theater" on TV in Chicago many, many years ago. Svengoolie ( Jerry G. Bishop was the best) was a blast!
