I was riding in my car one day
One day, while driving on the freeway, I had a life-altering experience.

In the express lane rollin on the freeway
I was driving fast in the express lane.

And suddenly the phone rings then I
My phone started ringing.

Reached down beside me then i look
I looked down beside me.

On the floor felt on the backseat
I realized that I had dropped something on the back seat.

See I was drinking while I was driving
I had been drinking while driving.

Never thinking bout what I was doing
But I wasn't considering the danger.

I turned around and before i knew it
I looked away for a second, and before I knew it,

Here comes this truck now
I saw a truck coming towards me.

Doctor said don't think he gonna make it
After the accident, the doctor told me that it was unlikely I would survive.

Family said make the funeral arrangements
My family prepared for my death.

Unplug the machine he's gone now
The medical equipment that was keeping me alive was turned off, and everyone thought I was gone.

Then told my wife to be strong now
My wife was told to be strong in the face of my death.

Then a small voice said told me
But then, I heard a small voice speaking to me.

If you promise to stop drinking
The voice said that if I agreed to stop drinking,

I surrendered on that day
I made a commitment to change my ways that day.

Now for ten years i've been straight
Since that day, I have been sober for ten years.

I am grateful that I was given a second chance to live.

Now i've been sitting in this chair
After a while, I found myself in a different kind of trouble.

Waiting on the phone to ring
I was waiting for someone to call me with work, so I could support myself and my family.

Praying up to God that someone will call
I prayed to God that I would get a job offer.

Me with a job opening
Finally, I received a call from a potential employer.

Cause it's been so hard for me
I had been struggling to make ends meet for a long time.

Month to month struggling to eat
I couldn't afford to buy food or pay my bills.

But still there was no answer
Unfortunately, I didn't get any job offers.

I stop believing in his word and
After waiting for so long, I lost faith in God's promise.

Got so mad at him and
I became angry at God.

When somebody said God's good
But then, someone reminded me that God is always good.

I just laugh at 'em
At first, I didn't want to hear it.

But in the nick of time his blessing
But just when I thought all was lost,

Rain on me
I received a blessing.

By his grace the phone ring
I got a job offer thanks to God's grace.

A lady said were hiring and
A lady called me to let me know that they were hiring.

That's when I knew
I realized that God had not abandoned me.

Now i was 18 out there on the block
Earlier in my life, when I was 18,

Selling drugs
I was involved with drugs.

With a gun at my waist
I carried a weapon with me.

And for people I had no love
I didn't care about anyone but myself.

See the streets was my home
I lived on the streets.

Family and friends were all gone
My family and friends had all left me behind.

Had no one to trust
I didn't have anyone I could trust.

And deep inside i was all alone
I felt very alone inside.

And a deal went bad one day
One day, a drug deal went badly.

And it was enough to pause me
It made me stop and think.

I was shot 4 times and before i
Then, I was shot multiple times.

Knew it I was on my knees
I was on the ground, fighting for my life.

Blood pushin out my body
My blood was spilling out of my body.

My heart's beating faster don't know what i'm gonna do
My heart was racing with fear.

I don't think i'm gonna last then
I thought I was going to die.

I begain to flash back on the things
As I lay there, I started to remember the things

I done in my past
I had done wrong in my life.

Then I heard a small voice that said
But suddenly, I heard a small voice speaking to me.

I'll give you peace if you believe
The voice promised me peace if I believed in it.

I accepted Christ that day
I accepted Christ into my life that day.

Halilujah now i'm free
And now, I am free from my past.

I was in the aisle of the grocery store
Years later, I was in a grocery store.

With a pain in my chest and I'm wondering
I was experiencing chest pains, and I didn't know what was wrong.

Where did it come from (I got tested)
So I got tested to find out what was happening.

And the results came back
The test results came back.

And the doctor said i'm sorry but u got cancer
There was bad news: I had cancer.

I could not beleive it so
I was in disbelief.

I call my mama to calm my nerves
I called my mother, hoping for comfort.

(mama) she got down on her knees
My mother prayed for me.

(mama) she said a prayer for me
As she prayed, she asked God to help me.

(mama) just keep on thanking Jesus
My mother reminded me to be grateful and to thank Jesus.

(mama) he'll give you what you need
She assured me that God would provide whatever I needed.

(thank you Jesus)
And I was grateful to Jesus for everything.

Now that was five years ago
Thankfully, it has been five years since that diagnosis.

I don't have that pain no more
I am no longer in pain.

Doc said you can go home
The doctor declared that I was well and could leave the hospital.

Cause all your cancer's gone
The cancer was completely cured.

You saved me (said you saved me)
I am grateful that my life was saved.

You saved me (but you saved me)
God saved me from death and destruction.

You saved me saaaved me
God saved me from a life of sin and destruction.

Gave me a second chance (second chance)
I was given a second chance at life.

I am grateful that God saved me.

God saved me and for that I am thankful.

I'm so thankful that You looked down on me
I am grateful that God showed me mercy.

Saw me standing there
Even though I made mistakes, God saw me and loved me.

I was at the end of my rope no where to go
I felt helpless and lost, with nowhere to turn.

And you gave me
But God gave me hope.

Even when I had nowhere to turn, God saved me.

I was down and out 2
I was in a bad place in my life.

I was doing drugs 2
I was addicted to drugs.

I was running the streets 2
I was living on the streets.

Never felt love
I didn't know what love was like.

I was wilding out
I was acting recklessly.

You saved me
But God saved me from my destructive lifestyle.
