@Tucker Max yes, very true, animal abuse, while obviously horrific and wrong, isn't a precursor to a psychopathy. There has to be the other signs, aka the homicidal/serial killer triad, also known as the Macdonald triad. Which is made up of 3 components that can be seen in serial killers;
1) animal abuse
2) obsession with fire, and starting fires, and
3) bed wetting after a certain age, I believe 9 is that cut off, but my course was a LONG time ago.
There does also, although not always, tend to be some form of abuse in their background. Be it emotional, psychological, physical or se*ual. Having 1 of these 3 doesn't make someone a sociopath, neither does having 2, although, if there are any concerns, having 2 of these is obviously something that should be looked at and talked about with a professional.

And with psychopaths, the traits they can have are things like:
•high intelligence
•charm
•inability to understand right from wrong, •lack of empathy,
•tendency to lie, even over silly little things
•behaviors that aren't socially acceptable or "normal" (although I believe that is harder to diagnose nowadays)
•be good at manipulating others and
•have no concerns about hurting others, be that physically or otherwise.
But, not all psychopaths are "bad". A number of high powered businessmen and women are actually "clinical psychopaths", because that "lack of concern for others" helps them to be able to, in effect, step on other people's toes, and not feel bad about it, when rising to the top.

I believe my father is a psychopath, or at least has psychopathic traits, as he is very good at manipulation, has said for decades that he doesn't "need" people in his life, (said TO his wife and children) because he "is an island", was VERY successful in business, lied a lot (4 year long affair) and almost never apologises if he's done something wrong or hurt someone. Although things have apparently changed since he had a brain haemorrhage a few years ago, but I'm no longer in contact with him, so the alleged changes in his personality is secondhand information from my brother.

But diagnosing children with some disorders is very hard to do, because sometimes it's just the parents influence on them that causes the "bad" behaviour, and once they grow up and move out, they turn into fully functioning "normal" adults.
Or it could be a chemical/hormonal imbalance.
There are so many factors, which is why these types of diagnoses are left until the child has matured a little. Although, as with lots of things, there are, and have been, exceptions to that "rule".
Which is why each individual case should be assessed by a professional.

I'm a smoker, had my dog in the car window up ac full blast waiting for my ex and kids to return from inside the pet store. Some person walked up with a big rock thinking my dog was alone, I stopped them two steps from the car and asked them what they were doing with that rock? They tried to say my dog was in danger, I pointed out a camera and said that'll prove I've been here this whole time, and snuffed out the last of my cigarette and said I didn't want to smoke in the car with the dog. They left upset I was ready to fight over them wanting to steal my dog or the car, not sure which, but police caught them awhile latter stealing someones dog out of a car middle of winter. Turned out they would steal peoples dogs and sell them to dog fighters. Cameras caught them, the same one I pointed out when they tried with me 😂🤣

@Eliza Wilson Its okay, I'm a smoker so I can understand someone misunderstanding me being near the car unlike those who run into a store, that's just wrong so much can happen from death of the dog to the dog shifting the car into gear to move.

@mjross007 My apologies I believe I might’ve worded that wrong when I said my previous statement I was referring to the owners that leave their dogs in the car with AC on

mjross007

@Eliza Wilson leaving the car completely unattended with an animal inside is wrong, note or not. Standing next to the car is a completely different story, especially if you're only a step or two away. I wouldn't leave a child completely unattended in a vehicle let alone a dog, those people are extremely neglectful.

Eliza Wilson

@mjross007 I agree but again some people gets the wrong interpretation which is why I’ve seen pictures on YouTube of people putting signs in their car saying that the dog has AC on so there’s also that

mjross007

@Eliza Wilson central USA... And dog fighting is not acceptable, though standing right next to your car with the ac on and you dogs inside because you don't want to smoke cigarettes in the car and it's 90+ outside is completely acceptable. Especially if you're holding a spare Incase the dog locks itself in.

Story 1: Many serial killers started out by tormenting animals. I can't help but wonder if they might have turned out differently if a parent had bothered to try and instill a sense of empathy into these troubled children before they grew into vicious psychopaths. I feel bad for the kid who has to grow up with a mother llike that.

I do agree that would mostly likely happened but there's kids who grow up in nicest house could have unknown mentally problems.

I am just saying it's not always the case but still no excuses.
