Having secured some studio time through friend Leif Anderson (of Sirens Sister,) and interested in exploring other artistic and musical endeavors during their previous band’s hiatus, drummer Steve Gale (studio drummer, Common Heroes, Pris) approached Dane Creek (singer and songwriter) to see if he had any material in the works that the two of them could record. In November 2009, they took 6 original songs into the studio. Through that experience, they realized very
quickly that this “side project” was something they wanted to pursue full time.

Steve Gale and Dane Creek rounded out their group with bassist Cameron Cowles and guitarist Adam Wong (both formerly of Roms and Resumes,) and, along with guitarist Ian Tomlinson (The Learn'd Astronomer,) settled on the name Rain Light Fade. With a desire to create something much more than just a band, the gentlemen of RLF entered into collaborations with photographer and indie ﬁlm maker, Steve Rydgren, and have continued to watch the project take on a life of its own.
