Dropping
Rainbow Butt Monkeys Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm dropping, I'm falling,
Like water, like water.
I hear it, it's calling,
Me over,
I'm over.

Breathing, brings me,
One step closer.
Breathing, brings me,
One step closer.

You scare me, with what,
You're doing, you're doing.
I'm feeling, you pushing,
Me over, I'm over.
Breathing, brings me,
One step closer.
Breathing, brings me,
One step closer.
I'm only kidding, don't believe me.
I've never been, this unclean.

I've been thinking I've been having too much time to myself.
I've been looking through the window, I kill myself.
I've been holding onto nothing, overlooking the wall.
Give me something that will leave me alone.
I've been thinking I've been having too much time to myself.
I've been looking through the window, I kill myself.
I've been holding onto nothing, overlooking the wall.
Give me something that will leave me alone.
I'm dropping, I'm falling, Like water, like water.

I hear it, it's calling,
Me over, I'm over.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Dropping" by Rainbow Butt Monkeys seem to express a feeling of being lost or overwhelmed. The repeated line "Breathing, brings me, one step closer" suggests that the singer is trying to calm themselves down or regain control. The use of water imagery ("I'm dropping, I'm falling, like water") emphasizes the sense of being swept away or overwhelmed by something. Similarly, the line "You scare me, with what, you're doing" suggests that someone or something is causing anxiety, but it's not entirely clear what that is.

The verse that begins "I've been thinking I've been having too much time to myself" suggests that the singer may be struggling with isolation or loneliness. The line "Give me something that will leave me alone" could be read as a plea for relief from their own thoughts or emotions. The repetition of this verse and chorus throughout the song creates a sense of being stuck or trapped in a cycle of negative feelings.

Overall, the song conveys a sense of unease and vulnerability. The singer seems to be grappling with internal struggles and seeking a way to cope or escape. The use of water imagery and repetition suggest a sense of being lost in a current, unable to find solid ground.
