Romeo
Ramesh Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I don't know why
You don't wanna live in my world
But i imagine it relates to the man inside
You call the rhythm king
Whole kingdom's on a string now

You dress into the pope
You dress into the scar of young judas
(Who said proceed through 'ya???)
You read between the lines
You read between the cracks as you kneel
Before a symbol of time

You in my world
You in my world
Everything changed without you in my world

I'm still living with
Christ and your father in your romeo void
I will change my body language
Change my body language to say

I'm sick of standing in your romeo void
Do you understand me?
Do you understand me?

I let you love me if the feeling was free
Free to eat each other
Free

I don't know you
But i get the feeling, you
You make big mistakes all the time
Collapsing on the ground
The black and white vision you scorn
As your skin gets reborn
And this was just a mercy kiss
Two virgins trying to see how the other half lives

Something went wrong
Something went wrong
And i never changed because something went wrong

(I'm still living with)
Christ and your father in your romeo void
I will change my body language
Change my body language to say

I'm sick of standing in your romeo void
Do you understand me?
Do you understand me?

I let you love me if the feeling was free

Free to eat each other
Free

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ramesh's song "Romeo" speak about the struggle of staying in a relationship that is not working out. The song starts off with the singer expressing his confusion about why the person that he loves does not want to be with him. He then tries to understand the reasons behind it and imagines that it might be because of the kind of person he is. The "rhythm king" that he is referred to could be his persona as a musician or his personality in general. However, he feels that the person he loves has the power to control his world and his kingdom is at their fingertips.

As the song progresses, the singer describes how the person he loves has changed him. He has tried to become what they want him to be by dressing up as the pope or the scar of young Judas. The singer then goes on to reveal that he has been living in a void, a space where everything changed when they left. He compares it to a Romeo void, where he is stuck in a one-sided love affair just like Romeo was in Shakespeare's play. He then declares that he is tired of standing in this void and wants the person to understand his feelings.

Interestingly, the singer talks about how he would let the person love him if the feeling was free. This seems to suggest that there are external forces or barriers that are preventing them from being together. The singer is trying to understand why things went wrong between them and why they could never change. He concludes the song by saying that he is still living in the Romeo void with Christ and the person's father, and he will change his body language to express his inner turmoil.
