(Wart)
(Wart hog, wart)
(Wart hog, wart)
(Wart hog, wart)

(Wart hog) I shot some dope, I feel so sick
It's a sick world, sick, sick, sick
Drugs and bitches and junkies and fags
Artificial phonies I hate it, hate it

Sick, sick, sick, it's the price I pay
It's a sick world, what can I say?
Bullshit scum, they desintegrate
They steal, they cheat, they take-take-take

(Wart)
(Wart hog, wart)
(Wart hog, wart)
(Wart hog, wart)

(Wart hog) I want to puke, I can't sit still
There's sex and drugs in a nightmare world
It's a sick world, sick, sick, sick
It's a hopeless life, I hate it, hate it

It's the drugs and the lies and the ripoff bet?
It's an outlaw life, we're a renegade band
Drugs and bitches and commies and queers
Artificial phonies, I hate it, hate it

Overall Meaning

The Ramones's song 'Wart Hog' embodies the quintessential punk rock attitude of cynicism, aggression, and rebellion against societal norms. The song is essentially a criticism of the ugliness and depravity that exists in contemporary society and how it seeps into people's lives, leading to feelings of hopelessness and despair. The opening lines 'I shot some dope, I feel so sick, it's a sick world, sick, sick, sick' set the tone for the rest of the song, with the singer feeling disgusted and disillusioned with the world around them.

The song uses a lot of vulgar and offensive language, which was typical of punk rock at the time, as a way to shock and provoke the audience. The lyrics are especially critical of drug use, promiscuity, and homosexuality, which were taboo subjects at the time. It highlights how these things were seen as social pariahs and were shamed instead of being acknowledged as something that existed in society.

Overall, 'Wart Hog' is an exasperated scream against the hypocrisies of society, portraying the physical and spiritual degradation that people subjected themselves to. It's a powerful critique of the darker side of human behavior and a reflection of the Ramones's disdain for the norms of society.

This song kicks so much ass. The Ramones fucking rule. That's coming from a straight up metal head. These guys are the reason I took up wanting to be a drummer. My parents were Ramones fans, I grew up in the 80s, born in 78' my parents loved the Ramones. My mom took me with them to see them in 1982' she put all kinds of shit on me to protect my ears. I begged them to let me go with them. They took me, and I came out of it just fine. Yes she protected the hell out of my ears but I was fine, and loved every minute of it. They signed my little leather jacket. Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, and Marky. They signed it with a silver paint marker my mom brought. I used to jump up on my toy box, with my Sha na na guitar, and strummed along to it. I wasn't playing anything that made sense but in my mind I was jamming right along with Johnny. Lmao
