El Buen Pastor
Raphy Leavitt Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Al que me siga nada le faltará;
Al que me siga nada le faltará;
Pero que ¿a dónde llegaremos
Si esto sigue como vá?
Decía el buen pastor
Al que me siga nada le faltará...
Decía el buen pastor
Al que me siga nada le faltará.
A muchos llamas tu padre mío
In Raphy Leavitt's song "El Buen Pastor," the singer mourns the fact that people have forgotten God's law and instead are abducted by addiction and vice. God is crying in the sky and tears are falling behind a veil as he prays for his children. The singer compares the abandonment of God's laws to motherhood, explaining that while not all mothers are adequate, some are deserving of God's grace and strength in their daily struggles with their children. He then complains about the current state of affairs, noting that people are killing and stealing and no longer respect the sanctity of marriage. They have been overwhelmed by addiction, which has turned them into rocks.
The good shepherd, he says, taught that those who followed him would want for nothing. He warns, however, that those enslaved by vice and evil would never be free. He encourages mothers to care for their children as they will overcome the challenges together. He admonishes the fact that only a handful of people will heed God's call despite His Fatherly Love.

My father, your children have forgotten you
My father, how they mock your commands
Even with my death, I can't teach them
The one that is your law.
