History: Rascal Flatts were founded near Columbus, Ohio. Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus's brother-in-law, James Otto, is also a country music artist. DeMarcus moved to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well.
DeMarcus soon joined Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist could not make it one night, DeMarcus invited Rooney to sit in. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts and began performing together, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999.
The band was recently announced that they have celebrated 10 years of being one of the hottest country bands of the decade. On January 7, 2020, Rascal Flatts announced that they would be disbanding following a farewell tour after twenty years together. However, this farewell tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the group's disbandment was officially confirmed in October 2021.

I've got the lights turned up, the door is locked
The bedroom tv's on
Doin' the only thing that gets me through
The night since you've been gone
Prayin' for daylight
Waitin' for that mornin' sun
Baby come back to me
I swear I'll make it right
Don't make me spend another lonely night
Prayin' for daylight (Prayin' for daylight)
I made a bad miscalculation, bettin'
You would never leave (Ooooh)
'Cause if you're gettin' on with your new life
Then where does that leave me?
Prayin' for daylight
Waitin' for that mornin' sun
So I can act like my whole life ain't goin' wrong
Baby come back to me
I swear I'll make it right
Don't make me spend another lonely night (spend... another lonely night)
Prayin' for daylight (Prayin' for daylight)
Prayin' for daylight (Prayin' for daylight)
Prayin' for daylight
Hopin' that I didn't wait too long (I didn't wait too long)
But this is just the dark before the dawn......Oh
Deep in my heart I know that you love me
As much as I love you (You know I love you girl)
And that you must be lyin' somewhere
Lookin' up to heaven too
Prayin' for daylight
Waitin' for that mornin' sun
So I can act like my whole life ain't goin' wrong
Baby come back to me
I swear I'll make it right
Don't make me spend another lonely night
(Make me spend another lonely night)
Prayin' for daylight
Waitin' for that mornin' sun
So I can act like my whole life ain't goin' wrong
Baby come back to me
I swear I'll make it right
Don't make me spend another lonely night (another lonely night)
Prayin' for daylight (Prayin' for daylight)
Prayin' for daylight
(I don't want to spend another lonely night)
(I don't want to spend another lonely night)
Prayin' for daylight
(I don't want to spend another lonely night) Ooooh
Prayin' for daylight
The lyrics of Rascal Flatts's song "Prayin' For Daylight" describes the feelings of a man who is spending another lonely night without his lover. He misses his lover and is suffering from the pain of the separation. He tries to distract himself with the TV, but nothing seems to help him feel better, so he prays for the morning sun to come back so he can pretend that everything is fine. He regrets the bad choices he made and the misunderstandings that led to the breakup, and he hopes that his lover is also missing him as much as he misses her. He knows that they both love each other and that they are hoping for the same thing: to reunite and be happy once again.
The song portrays the universal theme of heartbreak and longing, which is relatable to anyone who has experienced the pain of a breakup. It communicates the idea of finding hope in the darkest moments by believing that better days will come. It also highlights the importance of communication and understanding in a relationship and the consequences of taking the other person for granted.

It has been 21 years and this song is still awesome listening to. Rascal Flatts still got it despite being two decades already. It brings me back to the good old days.
