History: Rascal Flatts were founded near Columbus, Ohio. Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus were second cousins from a musical family. DeMarcus's brother-in-law, James Otto, is also a country music artist. DeMarcus moved to Nashville in 1992, earning his first record deal as part of a Christian group called East to West. In 1997, he finally convinced LeVox to leave behind his job with the Ohio Department of Mental Retardation and follow his musical dreams as well.
DeMarcus soon joined Chely Wright's band, and there he met Joe Don Rooney. DeMarcus and LeVox were working in a Printer's Alley nightclub, and when their part-time guitarist could not make it one night, DeMarcus invited Rooney to sit in. Eventually, they took the name Rascal Flatts and began performing together, getting signed to Lyric Street Records in late 1999.
The band was recently announced that they have celebrated 10 years of being one of the hottest country bands of the decade. On January 7, 2020, Rascal Flatts announced that they would be disbanding following a farewell tour after twenty years together. However, this farewell tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the group's disbandment was officially confirmed in October 2021.
Some Say

And just close your eyes
There's the missing moon, there's the Milky Way
Heaven's straight ahead, We'll be there today
Rainbows right and left, sunshine everywhere
If it couldn't be baby, how did we get here
Some say we'll never get off the ground
That someday we'll end up a world apart
And some say we're a couple crazy kids
And some say that's exactly what they did
And I say you got to go with your heart
And baby, look where we are
There's that home, the one they said we'd never share
And just close your eyes
There's a picket fence, there's our mailbox
Puppy on the porch and roses up the walk
Shinny new minivan, kids in every seat
Someday we'll look back and say it wasn't just a dream
Some say we'll never get off the ground
Some say we'll never make it out of town
That someday we'll end up a world apart
And some say we're a couple crazy kids
And some say that's exactly what they did
And I say you got to go with your heart
And baby, look where we are
Some say we'll never get off the ground
Some say we'll never make it out of town
That someday we'll end up a world apart
And some say we're a couple crazy kids
And some say that's exactly what they did
And I say you got to go with your heart
And baby, look where we are
Some say- oh, oh
Some say
Some say, yes they do, some say
Oooo, Oooo, Oooo, Oooo
Some say, some say, some say
Some say, someday, some say
In Rascal Flatts's song Some Say, the singer reflects on the doubts and detractors they faced, who believed they would never achieve their dreams. Despite these naysayers, the singer encourages their partner to close their eyes and see the possibilities ahead. The pair imagines a future where they have reached the stars, with rainbows and sunshine all around them. The singer also envisions a home with a picket fence, mailbox, and a family-filled minivan. The song ends with the repetition of the phrase, "some say," emphasizing the many opinions and doubts they have faced. Nonetheless, the singer believes that they must follow their heart and enjoy the present moment with their partner.
Through this song, Rascal Flatts highlights the power of perseverance, determination, and love in the face of adversity. The lyrics suggest that success and happiness are attainable if one follows their heart, clings to their dreams, and focuses on positivity. The verses depict a beautiful, idyllic future that the couple has created through their efforts, despite the doubts presented by others. While the song acknowledges the many "some say" doubts that exist in the world, the chorus encourages listeners to follow their hearts and take comfort in how far they've come.
