Historically influenced, and constantly costumed, Rasputina keeps a small legion of incredibly passionate admirers enthralled with their earnest musicianship. Considered to be quite a pioneer and visionary, Melora and her group have inspired countless young people to pick up the cello, and have re-inspired many uninspired string players. Rasputina considers this to be the finest payment for their work.

Over another dark February
And then moon certainty
When fingers blow the wind to me
My shivering sighs blurts a shadow
For a
The frigid leaden sky
I attempt to seek out the source
Of this ancient curse
By the temple gods
Oh moon keeps on its course
Without being stalked by the cries of dogs
Oh my love I'm freezing
In my marble dressing gown
Cold, the oldest season
Hold me when the sun goes down
As this hesitant razor deepen
Under a blanket a cried when sleeping
He read a begins
With the tears that are wept are kept
For safe-keeping
They say it will call to an end
Then all things will begin again
In this eggshell atmosphere, which is so very prim
Twenty thousand million copper needles picking
My virginity has been eclipsed
By the severity of my blue trembling lips
locked my heart at dusk
I will it open it again when the light comes in
Oh my love I'm freezing
In my marble dressing gown
Cold, the oldest season
Hold me when the sun goes down
Oh my love I'm freezing
In my marble dressing gown
Cold, the oldest season
Hold me when the sun goes down
Rasputina's "Dark February" is a haunting song replete with potent lyrics that showcase haunting themes of loss, grief, and existential despair. The singer of the song seems to be struggling with feelings of loneliness and isolation, perceiving that they die in obscurity over yet another dark February. The forces of nature seem to be constantly conspiring against the singer, as the leaden, frigid sky remains immobile and petrified, and the moon continues on its course without heed to the singer's plight. The singer, seemingly desperate, attempts to seek out the source of an ancient curse from the temple gods, but their struggles go unanswered.
The song's second verse heightens the singer's sense of despair, as they lament that their virginity has been eclipsed by the severity of their blue, trembling lips. They feel locked in silence, recognizing the inevitability of the darkness that awaits them with each passing day. However, there is a sense of hopefulness to the lyrics as well. The singer implores their love to hold them when the sun goes down, recognizing that the darkness isn't all-consuming and that warmth and light will return eventually.
