Confession Blues
Ray Charles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I wanna tell you a story
Our Ray boy was once in love
I wanna tell you a story
Our Ray boy was once in love
And how the girl that I loved
Taught me of the happiness I dreamed of

She called me fine, sweet and mellow
But that didn't mean a thing
She called me fine, sweet and mellow
But that didn't mean a thing
Because I knew when she whispered love
That meant a watch brings with her diamond ring

I did mind my baby once
If she'd only played fair with me
I did mind my baby's once
If she played fair with me
She took advantage of my goodness

And made a pitiful fool out of me
Baby, go ahead, go ahead

Today I learned that Ray Charles was even producing his cool bluesy rock and roll back in the 40's. This was a great find!

I love how much he tried to sing and play piano like Nat King Cole but it grew into an amazing style of his own later. Especially his piano solos

Fats and Ray were the blues legends just before Elvis made Rock and Roll global
