No Use Crying
Ray Charles Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

A tear fell this morning
As I thought of the good old days I've had

Somebody tell me
I've got to know, is this the end?
'Cause I've lost everything
I have no friends
But it's no use crying, now now
No use crying
No use crying

When I was young
And things were going my way
Had I thought of the future
I would not be in this shape today

Somebody please tell me
I've got to know, is this the end
'Cause I've lost everything
I have no friends

I'm tryin' to tell you it's no use crying, now now
No use crying
No use crying

So people
Don't be no sleepers
Take my advice
Opportunity never knocks twice

It's here today
Tomorrow it's gone away
And then you've lost everything
And you have no friends

But it's no use crying, now now

No use crying
No use crying

Ray Charles is amazing with delivering emotions in his singing. Just the way he sings that first line makes me wanna play this over and over again.

That would be a young Billy Preston on the organ! Would've been about 18 or 19.

Ray Charles has always been one of those artists that I can never get tired of listening to his music but this was put together so well with the end of magic city! It fit so well with a Ike cause he worked so hard to provide for his family but in the end he pretty much destroyed it. He lost his son Stevie to the full blown gangster life, he lost his wife Vera because of his betrayal of her putting business first over their marriage. And Danny saw to much murder and corruption in his “fathers world” and left home. So all that was really left was his daughter and his hotel

@bobearly2303

my pop hipped me to this song when I was a young lad of 18 yrs.   Been a Ray fan ever since. Haunting electric piano.
