People like us we play with a heavy balloon
We, who are similar in ways many people may not understand, have learned to play with a heavy object that represents the negativity and dark forces in our lives, in order to keep them at bay.

Keep it up to keep the devil at bay but it always falls way too soon
We have to keep the balloon in the air to keep the darkness from consuming us, but despite our best efforts, it always seems to come crashing down sooner than we'd like.

I spread like strawberries
My influence, both positive and negative, spreads to others like the growth of strawberries.

I climb like peas and beans
I continue to grow and evolve, like how peas and beans grow upwards towards the sky.

I've been sucking it in so long
I've been holding my emotions inside and suppressing them for a long time.

That I'm bursting at the seams
I've reached a breaking point where I can no longer hold everything inside and I'm on the verge of falling apart.

In the middle of the day
At a time when things should be bright and sunny, I feel overwhelmed by the challenges and hardships that I'm facing.

Like the sun, but that Saharan one, it's staring me down
Like the hot, scorching sun of the Sahara desert, my problems feel relentless and unforgiving, glaring down on me constantly.

Forcing all forms of life inside of me to retreat underground
My struggles are so intense that they cause me to shut down emotionally and withdraw from the world.

It grows relentless like the teeth of a rat
My problems seem to multiply and become more intense with time, like the never-ending growth of a rat's teeth.

It constricts like a ball on a hose
My problems start to suffocate me and prohibit my growth, like a ball restricting the flow of water through a hose.

Nothing flows, so the pressure grows instead of the sea
When the positive aspects of my life are stifled, the negativity builds up and creates more pressure, like blocking the flow of a river and causing the water level to rise.

People like us get so heavy and so lost sometimes
People with similar struggles to mine often become overwhelmed and lose sight of themselves.

So lost and so heavy that the bottom is the only place that we can find
In our darkest moments, we are so burdened by our struggles that the only way we can go is down, hitting rock bottom.

We get dragged down, down to the same spot enough times in a row
We often find ourselves struggling with the same issues repeatedly, causing us to get stuck in a never-ending cycle of negativity.

The bottom begins to feel like the only safe place that you know
After being at the bottom for so long, it starts to feel like the only place where we can find comfort and familiarity.
