1) Started out in about 1985 messing with drum machines from lack of ability to play the drums.realizing i could be a bassist with a sequencer aswell i started to get rhythm tracks together and were then played out on the now defunct garry clail sound system for the on u sound label. from here i went on to help garry co write the follow up single to his top 10 hit "human nature ",the record being called "escape " which also got to some charty posistion around the forty's i think. since that i sort of done my own thing, working for bristol entrepreneur fat paul on the swarf finger label releasing a 7'' called "and then you die " under the name "receiver"also remixing bristol band the brilliant corners and also remixing the later formed experimental pop band (homesick)album. just before this i put out a tune called run(you can run but you can't hide ) on marabou records in 1994 on a d+b tip under the name" ratman " Then came cup of tea records and the dreaded london term trip hop, then i produced two 12' of assorted slow beat /dub/jungle workouts also under the name ratman . luckily receiver seemed to fit also into the cup of tea vibe at the time and went on to record an album (chicken milk) and another couple of 12's for the label. i think looking back one of the most enjoyable things for me that came out of all of this was to remix other peoples tunes, which included alpha, mr scruff, smith and mighty, purple penguin, static sound system , the egg, also had the fun of having a track on a play station game once (rollcage) which was weird to play, and done a few small film bits and pieces. bringing this a bit more up to the now- i have been working on various projects including bringing out another receiver album (teddy has stopped breathing )on my own label (hoofboy) including a 12' called leviathan from the same album. recently i have worked with dianne charlemagne of moby and goldie(inner city life )fame and have bought out a limited few white labels of her and other bootleg material for which i don't want to talk about to much on here as last time i put some ideas/mashups/bootlegs on here i got deleted without any explanation.............,i suppose it must of been copyright for a accapella i was trying out.........gutted.Anyway still doin it .....slowly-watch this myspace.... rounding it all up- im doin it for the lovin of it. laterz alan/ratman/receiver
2. Receiver was a Southern California-based power-pop band active from the late 90s through the mid-2000s. Lead by lead vocalist Ken West and also featuring LA/OC scene notables Don Mogill (also a lead singer in The Dons) and journalist John Borack, the band was a mainstay of the Los Angeles International Pop Overthrow scene of the time. They only released one proper full-length album, 2001's "Inspiration Overload," on Not Lame records, but the now out-of-print disc is a minor cult classic amongst fans of the genre. Other than a string of one-off singles released in following years and appearances on compilations and tributes, the band never recorded another disc and all but disbanded when West left Orange County for Wisconsin.

Reaching for what has been given
Out into a sacred realm
Forming ways of new connection
Overdose on every sound
Frequencies in heavy motion
Breaking through what blocks this road
The consequences
Worshipping the night
Like a heathen
Light it up
Set it on fire
I'm blown as fuck
Night has come
Raise up your glasses
Cheers to the sun
Expand this space
Surround me like angels as I levitate
Across the waves
Sailing through moments
Sunk under change
If only I learned
The consequences
Worshipping the night
Like a heathen
Don't forget
It's manifestation
Pave the way
Discover the meaning
Everyone
Receive the vibration
Be aware
No distance between us
If only I learned
The consequences
Worshipping the night
Like a heathen
Meditate
Visualise

The lyrics of "Elevation" by Receiver convey a profound sense of seeking and transformation. The opening lines, "Set me up another round, Reaching for what has been given," suggest a longing for more, a desire to grasp something that is already within reach. The reference to entering a "sacred realm" and forming new connections speaks to the idea of transcending boundaries and barriers to forge meaningful relationships and experiences.
The theme of sensory overload is prevalent in the lines, "Overdose on every sound, Frequencies in heavy motion," painting a picture of being overwhelmed by the intensity and abundance of stimuli. The call to "Break through what blocks this road" signifies a determination to overcome obstacles and push forward towards growth and discovery.
The chorus of the song explores the consequences of indulgence and hedonism, with the singer lamenting, "If only I learned, The consequences, Worshipping the night, Like a heathen." This reflects a sense of regret and introspection, questioning past choices and actions that may have led to negative outcomes.
As the song progresses, there is a shift towards a more celebratory and uplifting tone, with references to lighting up and embracing the night. The lines, "Set it on fire, I'm blown as fuck, Night has come, Raise up your glasses, Cheers to the sun," evoke a sense of revelry and camaraderie, with a nod to appreciating life's pleasures and acknowledging the cycles of light and darkness.
The closing verses of the song emphasize the power of manifestation, unity, and spiritual elevation. The call to "Meditate, Visualise, Train, Elevation" speaks to the importance of mindfulness, visualization, and self-improvement in achieving personal growth and enlightenment. The repetition of the words "Train, Elevation" underscores the idea of continuous learning and evolution, as well as the cyclical nature of progress and transformation. Overall, "Elevation" by Receiver is a reflective and empowering song that encourages introspection, connection, and spiritual development.

Thanks for the education. Do you guys have a video about attaching to a house with cantilevered floor joist? I can't do a stand alone deck. I think my only option is running deck joist to foundation wall and sistering to floor joist?

Would you come to the Dominican Republic and build my deck? You guys are insane
