Red Flag made the top 10 Billboard charts in 1988 with their memorable song Russian Radio. The next year Red Flag's debut album, Naive Art, released by Enigma Records, earned them another top 10 single on the Billboard Dance chart with "If I Ever". MTV put Red Flag's video, Russian Radio, in rotation later that year. Touring extensively, Red Flag played with acts Devo, Thomas Dolby, and Book of Love. They appeared on the TV show American Bandstand where they performed Russian Radio.
Since then, Red Flag released 11 albums, 14 CD singles, two box sets and appeared on numerous compilations. Their music has been featured on MTV reality shows. The band has played concerts around the world in the U.S., Europe, Canada, Mexico, and South America.

Control
Red Flag Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've seen it in eyes, I've heard it in songs
It comes down to you
Lover what do I do?
I've listened to me, now I listen to you
Because I can't give, but I can take
Love for you, is all I've at stake on
Lose my hold, and I'll be asking you to follow me there
I'm gonna lose lose my control, lose my hold, so follow me there
But when it comes down to hate
I have experience some ways
You see it's easy to be such a difficulty
I don't want you to be part of that story
Because I can't give, but I can take
Love for you, is all I've at stake on
I'm gonna lose my control
Lose my hold, and I'll be asking you to follow me there
I'm gonna lose lose my control, lose my hold, so follow me there
Lover what do I do?
Well nobody knows, where love belongs
I've seen it in eyes, I've heard it in songs
It comes down to you
Lover what do I do?
I've listened to me, now I listen to you
Because I can't give, but I can take
Love for you, is all I've at stake on
I'm gonna lose my control
Lose my hold, and I'll be asking you to follow me there
I'm gonna lose lose my control, lose my hold, so follow me there
Follow me there
Follow me there, there
Follow me there
Well nobody knows, where love belongs
I've seen it in eyes, I've heard it in songs
It comes down to you
Lover what do I do?
I've listened to me, now I listen to you
I'm gonna lose my control, I'm gonna lose my control
I'm gonna lose my control, lose my hold, so follow me there
I'm gonna lose my control, lose my hold, so follow me there
The lyrics to Red Flag's song "Control" are about the struggle between love and hate and the singer's internal battle with losing control. The opening lines reveal the uncertainty of where love belongs and how it can be found through the eyes and songs of others. As the song progresses, the singer acknowledges their own struggles with love and hate, and how they can easily lose control in both of these emotions. They express their desire for their love interest not to be a part of their negative experiences with hate, and instead ask them to follow them towards a different path.
The chorus repeats the singer's fear of losing control and their willingness to risk it all for the love they have at stake. They recognize their inability to give but take love, and ask their lover for guidance in how to proceed.
