The group was lead by MC, David "Redhead" Guppy, who also played keyboards. The F.B.I. consisted of Wildstyle, Bo Roc, Lt. Squeak, Buzz and Poochie.[1]
A Shade of Red contained two other singles, "Pump it Hottie", which reached #2 on the US Hot Rap Singles Chart in 1990, and "We Rock the Mic Right".[2] The album was produced by Teddy Riley and was heavily influenced by the New Jack Swing trend at the time.

Recorded at Hillside Studios, Englewood, New Jersey and Soundtracks Studios, New York The Album with No Namepeaked at 182 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the song "3-2-1 Pump" reached #52 on the The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
The group also scored a track for the soundtrack to the 1991 film, New Jack City, while that same year, Guppy made his acting debut in the film Strictly Business that also starred Halle Berry.[3]
Later Guppy would re-appear with the Private Investigators on the album Re Act Like Ya Knew in 1993, by then he had changed his name to Dawud Nurrid-Diyn.
In 2006, Redhead Kingpin was featured on the Nas single Where Are They Now.

Nothing personal but she think she could do better
If you wanna get her then you must forget her
And go get better
She’s just looking for somebody to protect her
You show promise but you show your bullshit better
If she wanna walk away then you must let her
And go get better
To these girls, to yourself, that you’ve been trying
Cuz it ain’t trying if you still ain’t on your grind
24/7 till your fully master mining
All the gold, all the stones, and all of the diamonds
In this hard rock life that you been climbing
Tell me are you fine with
All that you’ve been finding
You better double time cuz your girl is on the line and
She’s so sick and tired of these half ass guys
Promising the life but they half ass try
Get her off your mind and get back on your highway
Get up get up get up get up
She don’t want you till you get your shit together
Nothing personal but she think she could do better
If you wanna get her then you must forget her
And go get better
She’s just looking for somebody to protect her
You show promise but you show your bullshit better
If she wanna walk away then you must let her
And go get better
Ain’t nobody wanna look inward for their problems
You just wanna blame everybody never solve them
Listen to your lame ass trying to talk her through it
Talking talking talking do you ever fucking do shit
You better move it quit your complaining
You still aint loosing cuz you still aint playing
Your time is wasting and you’re out there chasing
The love of your life hope she buys what you're faking
She’s so sick and tired of these half ass guys
Promising the life but they half ass try
Get her off your mind and get back on your highway
Get up get up get up get up
She don’t want you till you get your shit together
Nothing personal but she think she could do better
If you wanna get her then you must forget her
And go get better
She’s just looking for somebody to protect her
You show promise but you show your bullshit better
If she wanna walk away then you must let her
And go get better

The lyrics of Redhead Kingpin & The F.B.I.'s "Get It Together" are a call to action for all the guys who aren't fully committed to their relationships. The singer of the song is speaking directly to these men, telling them that they need to step up their game if they want to keep their significant others. He reminds them that nobody wants to be with someone who isn't making an effort to better themselves.
The chorus of the song tells the guys that they need to get their shit together if they want to keep their girls. The verse gets deeper into what it means to get your shit together. The singer tells the guys that they can't lie to themselves or their partners, and that they need to be working hard 24/7 to master everything in their lives. He also tells them that they need to stop blaming others for their problems and start taking action to solve them. Finally, he reminds them that they need to stop talking and start doing.
The song ends with the singer urging the guys to get up and get moving. He tells them that they've been laying low for too long and it's time to break out of their rut. He reminds them that if they don't get their lives in order, they'll end up stuck and alone.

A great classic Hip Hop Rap song from the 90s. This song was really popular on the Rap radio stations of the 90s also the Freestyle Dance music clubs in the 90s would all play this song from coast to coast along with Freestyle Dance music. Also Dance music radio stations of the 90s used to play this song a lot and also HipHop songs like this that had a positive rap message with a New Jack Swing beat like Heavy D, Father MC, Tony Terry, Al B Sure, Tracie Spencer, Guy, Jodeci, Bobby Brown, LL Cool J, Keith Sweat, TKA, MC Serch, Bell Biv Devoe, Ralph Tresvant, De La Soul, Salt N Pepa, Stevie B, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Janet Jackson, Positive K, New Edition, DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. That was real Hip-hop music and culture back then. Very different than it is today because back then the rappers were better and the music was real!
