Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

I puff the mad spliffs and roll blunts with Archie Bunker
'Cause my brain is twisted, so I cock the biscuit
'Cause shit's thick, some say I'mma bastard of a swift bitch
Negro, funkin' it with the style in your ear, bro
To make you fear me like Cape without Robert DeNiro
You big pussy, so funky that you have to douche me
You can't hear me then my record label didn't push me
But if I wasn't that, I wouldn't freak it in the line
But it don't seems to matter 'cause my shit get fatter and fatter
I'll do the funk in your face and it slaps ya
How does it feel with the face full of funk
With the bass in your trunk, weed laced with the blunt
I puff, I never got snuffed, bust while I dust your monkey
Ass off then I just crush on the hush hush
So if you want a taste of the funk from the gutter
Ask the brothers (Why?) 'Cause I'm bad (Word to mother)
I'm a bad, yo, word to the mother
I'm a bad, bad bad, and a wicked in bed
I'm a bad, yo, word to the mother
I'm a bad, bad bad, and a wicked in bed
Yo yo, check this out
This is for y'all hokey-pokey punk pussy motherfuckers
Just to show y'all I do what the fuck I wanna do
I want y'all to check this on the real
And yo, check this out
Shake it! Come on shake it! Come on shake it! Come on shake it!
Whassup now? Whassup now? Whassup now? Whassup now?
What up now? Hahahahah
(Yo Red, Come on, get back to the track man, I wanna get out of here!)
Yo kid chill, aight, aight, check it out
Flexy I'm sexy when I'm standin' in my drawers
If you can't check me when I'm rappin', put the tape on pause
And listen to the incredible shit that I kick my man
Give me five on the backhand then stick
Your finger in a hole and chop the stick quick
'Cause my lip get to the point, to still rock the fly shit
Since you're holding your breath, I hold my jewels
I swing hardcore, so I walk, holdin' my tools
The original P-Funk, takes no junk, from a chump, or punk, G
I been this way every since nine months
So get down while I rip the raps from my lip 'cause
My shit's more deep, than any tape from Enigma
The gettin' nice, thinkin' killer brother who pop trash
Basic instinct I'm a shooter so they got blasted
Much ass I kick, groove to the master mix
My song still pumps when it's not even mastered, bitch!
My shit's very chronic so rewind it
'Cause it's like, eh-eh-eh-eh beyond, bionic!
'Cause I'm a wild and crazy guy! No lie!
Last brother to battle me I started pissin' in his eye
I'm bad, word to mother, to the motherfuckin' Hubbard
Eatin' her curds and whey, puffin spliffs 'cause she doesn't
And if you still don't under-fuckin-stand where I'm comin' from
Listen to my nine, understand where it's hummin' from!
I'm a bad, yo, word to the mother
I'm a bad, bad bad, and a wicked in bed
I'm a bad, yo, word to the mother
I'm a bad, bad bad, and a wicked in bed
The lyrics of Redman's song "I'm A Bad" are an unapologetic display of his bravado and confidence in his abilities. Redman begins by stating that he is "mad wicked" and capable of catching a "bad one" by the "funker." He goes on to describe his love for smoking marijuana and his twisted brain which makes him quick to "cock the biscuit" (pull out his gun). Redman also emphasizes his mastery of funk rap style, which he repeats several times throughout the song. He describes how he can make listeners fear him like "Cape without Robert DeNiro" and that people who can't hear him means that his record label didn't push him hard enough.
The second verse continues with Redman's confidence, as he boasts about his sex appeal and skill as a rapper. He encourages listeners to stop holding their breaths and to start listening to his "incredible shit." Redman emphasizes that he's been doing this since he was "nine months," and he isn't afraid to "take no junk from a chump or punk." He's a "wild and crazy guy" who isn't afraid to battle and even started pissing in an opponent's eye. Finally, the chorus repeats his message that he is "bad" and also "wicked in bed."
Redman's lyrics may come off as arrogant, but it's clear that he is using his confidence as a way to establish himself as a formidable figure in the rap game. He emphasizes his love for funk rap throughout the song, highlighting his unique style and perhaps signaling that he is one of the few rappers capable of pulling it off. His confidence and brashness are his strengths, and he's using them to showcase why he is worthy of respect and admiration.
