Regina Belle was born in Englewood, New Jersey. Her early musical experience was in gospel music. She also studied trombone, tuba and steel drums and graduated from Dwight Morrow High School. In college at Rutgers University, she studied opera and jazz.
She met the Manhattans and began working as their opening act. She even recorded a duet with them, "Where Did We Go Wrong." her hard work earned her a record deal with Columbia Records.
In 1987, she released her album All By Myself which featured the hit single "Show Me The Way" which reached #2 on the R&B charts. In 1989, Belle released her sophomore album, "Stay With Me". Going gold, the album was packed with several strong and catchy songs. "Baby Come To Me", the album's first single, topped the R&B charts at # 1 and was followed by "What Goes Around" which reached #3. The album featured two additional popular singles, "This Is Love" which reached #7 and "Make It Like It Was" which was another #1 single on the R&B charts and #5 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
Belle recorded a duet in 1991 with singing superstar Johnny Mathis, "Better Together" which appeared on his album Better Together: The Duet Album. Continuing her success with duets, Belle teamed up with Peabo Bryson for the song "A Whole New World" from the Aladdin Soundtrack. The song went gold and won the Grammy Award in 1993 for "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Unfortunately, the duet did not catapult Regina into Pop superstardom as Peabo's duet with Celine Dion, "Beauty and the Beast" did.
During the same year, Belle released her third album, "Passion". Going Gold, the album featured the previously mentioned "A Whole New World", "Dream In Colour and "If I Could" which reached #9 on the R&B charts. Both did well on the A/C chart. A fouth single, "The Deeper I Love" was released but it did not chart.
After a five year hiatus without any original content released, Belle put out the album "Believe in Me" in 1998. If was much more of a commercial Urban contemporary album than any of her other albums. Although the album had two hit singles, the lead single being "I've Had Enough" (it was also remixed into a sizable dance music hit), the album didn't met MCA Records sales goal. She was droped by MCA Record in 1999. In 2001, she released the album "This Is Regina!" which featured the sensual hit single, "Ooh Boy". Another single was not lifted from the album. "This Is Regina!" went Gold.
Belle is still active in the music industry and in 2004, released the album, "Lazy Afternoon". In 2005, she had several successful concerts and apprances singing both new songs and older favourites. Regina Belle is not a well known figure by the Caucasion music audiences but should be since she is one of the highest quality Adult Contemporary/Pop singer to arise in recent times.
in 2008, Belle released her first Gospel album, "Love Forever Shines" on Pendulum Records. The album peaked at #115 on the Billboard 200, #15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #3 Top Gospel Albums chart. The albums' single, "God Is Good" became a hit, peaking at #34 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, #36 Hot Adult R&B Airplay and #2 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. She continues to tour. She also also become a regular on the Gopsel music circuit since then.

Well you looked so good
Baby
There was moonlight
In your hair
And God only knows
How I hated to leave you
Just standing there
Forever and ever
But the moment wasn't right
So I let go and took off
For another lonely night
Now I'd like
To spend my life with you
So now tell me
Is that so wrong
Cause I'd never have
To say good-bye to you
I could hold you
All night long
Do you wanna get serious
Or do I have
The right to ask you
You wanna get serious
Don't you wanna be in love
Do you wanna get serious
I know we're taking chances
On the two of us
Do you wanna get serious
Do you wanna get serious
All day long
I've been thinking about it
I'm ready to give in
'Cause I'd hate
To lose something
I might never find again
Nobody's ever made me want
To do what I'm gonna do
For once in my life
I have just what I need
And it's all wrapped up in you
Now I'd like
To spend my life with you
So now tell me is that so wrong
'Cause I'd never have to say
Good-bye to you
I could hold you all night long
When I left you tonight
Well you looked so good
Baby
There was moonlight
In your hair
And God only knows
How I hated to leave you
Just standing there
I could've held you
Forever and ever
But the moment wasn't right
So I let go and took off
For another lonely night
Now I'd like
To spend my life with you
So now tell me
Is that so wrong
Cause I'd never have
To say good-bye to you
I could hold you
All night long
Do you wanna get serious
Or do I have
The right to ask you
You wanna get serious
Don't you wanna be in love
Do you wanna get serious
I know we're taking chances
On the two of us
Do you wanna get serious
Do you wanna get serious
All day long
I've been thinking about it
I'm ready to give in
'Cause I'd hate
To lose something
I might never find again
Nobody's ever made me want
To do what I'm gonna do
For once in my life
I have just what I need
And it's all wrapped up in you
Now I'd like
To spend my life with you
So now tell me is that so wrong
'Cause I'd never have to say
Good-bye to you
I could hold you all night long
The song "Do U Wanna Get Serious" by Regina Belle is a tender love ballad about a person who has just left their lover and regretted that decision instantly. They describe how beautiful their lover looked in the moonlight and express their desire to spend their life with that person. The lyrics show the person's vulnerability and their fear of losing the chance to be with their lover forever. They ask their lover if they want to get serious and be in love, and express their readiness to give in and not lose something they may never find again.
The song's lyrics are simple, yet powerful, and the use of the moonlight and God as imagery adds an element of romanticism to the song. It portrays the common human sentiment of wanting to be with someone they love and the fear of losing them. The chorus is catchy and reinforces the message of the song. Regina Belle's soulful voice and emotional delivery add depth to the song, making it a timeless classic in the R&B genre.

When I left you tonight
As I was departing from your presence tonight
Well you looked so good
You appeared stunning in my eyes
Baby
An affectionate term of endearment
There was moonlight
The illumination of the moon
In your hair
Radiance reflected on your hair
And God only knows
Only God can fathom
How I hated to leave you
The feeling of anguish I had leaving you
Just standing there
Being stationary without movement
I could've held you
I had the urge to embrace you
Forever and ever
Eternally
But the moment wasn't right
The timing was not appropriate
So I let go and took off
I proceeded to depart from the scene
For another lonely night
For yet another distressed night alone
Now I'd like
Currently, I wish
To spend my life with you
To invest my life with you
So now tell me
Therefore, come to terms with me
Is that so wrong
Is it an impropriety?
Cause I'd never have
For the reason that I'll never have
To say good-bye to you
To have no reason to part ways
I could hold you
I could embrace you
All night long
Throughout the night
Do you wanna get serious
Are you willing to pursue a committed relationship?
Or do I have
Or should I ask
The right to ask you
The liberty to inquire from you
Don't you wanna be in love
Are you not willing to be in love?
I know we're taking chances
I recognize we're taking risks
On the two of us
On both you and me
All day long
Throughout the day
I've been thinking about it
It's been occupying my thoughts
I'm ready to give in
I'm prepared to surrender
'Cause I'd hate
For the reason that I would abhor
To lose something
To misplace something
I might never find again
That I may never retrieve again
Nobody's ever made me want
No one has ever evoked a desire in me
To do what I'm gonna do
To take action in the manner I intend to undertake
For once in my life
At least once in my existence
I have just what I need
I possess precisely what I necessitate
And it's all wrapped up in you
And it's all assembled within your vicinity
Now I'd like
Currently, I desire
To spend my life with you
To invest my life with you
So now tell me is that so wrong
So, is that improper?
'Cause I'd never have to say
Since I would never have to utter
Good-bye to you
Farewell to you
I could hold you all night long
I could hold you all through the night
