The Witch
Reign Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I rose from what felt like death
Drowning in seas of black
I'M BACK
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me drown
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me bow
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Now I rule among the seven seas
Death can't even, conquer me
Bloodshed intoxicating lips
Mesmerising wicked twists
You admit I'm the gun in your treasure chest
Stars in my eyes
Dagger for a tongue
All in black
I'm the baddest
WITCH IN TOWN
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me drown
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me bow
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
It's demons I hunt and magic I seek
The devil doesn't compare to me
Graveyard tattoos, skulls and bones
Demons are my favourite toys
It's my turn to unveil the torture you behold
For I will hunt you down
I'll feed your fears
Demons wish they were
The villain like me
WITCH IN TOWN
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me drown
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me bow
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me drown
I wear the crown
I wear the crown
Baddest witch in town
You won't see me bow

I wear the crown
I wear the crown

I love that finally someone told Catherine her 2 idiot sons where not worth her trouble. Francis was, but Charles and Henri were no Francis.

Laure

It would have been so interesting to see her story if the show was renewed

I can't lie that would have been very great to see, I wish she got her own spin off of this show.

She needed Margot because in the end Margot became Queen of Navarre a rich providence of France and neighboring kingdom. Margot United both royal houses of Valois and Bourbon and became known as La Reine Margot. I think the witch was insinuating that Margot will be Catherine's new pawn for power, which if your a history buff will later find out backfired on Catherine!

There is nothing incompatible about that.
The Bourbons did not take the throne to the Valois. They inherited it from them.
Sure Catherine would've wanted the Valois to survive. But they did not. Someone had to reign after them and the Bourbons were their legitimate successors according to French succession laws.
Maybe you'll understand better with a more contemporary example.
Let's imagine all the children of Prince William and Kate Middleton die without any child on their own, leading to Harry's son Archie inheriting the throne of England.
Kate might be heartbroken by her children's death but she would have no reason to resent Archie, right?
That's the same for Catherine. I have no doubt that, had she outlived her son Henri III, she would've supported Henri IV. This is also what Henri III himself did: while he was dying, he ordered his supporters to recognize Henri IV as his successor.

@libiusperseus not having anything against the bourbons and being heartbroken about the end of the Valois is kind of an incompatible position. How could she ever be pleased about a bourbon takeover if that necessitates that the Valois line has ended?

Catherine had nothing against the Bourbons.
She would've probably been heartbroken to see the end of the Valois but the Bourbons taking over after them would not have bothered her. After all, the Bourbons converted to Catholicism and continued the Valois' policy.
I guess what would've really destroyed Catherine, had she seen that, is the French Revolution. Especially considering both Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette were her descendants (Louis XVI through Leeza, Marie-Antoinette through Claude).

No that's stupid. House Bourbon was in line of succession after Valois, should the Valois fall, Bourbons would take over. Marrying Margot just solidified his claim.

MsRealitytvfan

@Russen Vela so he became an heir simply for marrying Margot...but HE remained in control after the divorce?

Been rewatching Reign lately & I'm so sad the show got cancelled right when they were starting to get to more interesting parts of history and plot. I wish they hadn't wasted two and a half seasons making stuff up and stretching out Francis' life bc there was so much more story waiting, and the female leads, esp. Mary, really started to develop once he was gone. Would've loved another season to see how the story of Catherine & Margot would go, as well as Mary and Elizabeth's :(
