Lucid
Reliance Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I think I saw you in my sleep
As clear as before, felt the sweat off the back of your shirt
A sigh of relief, like you never even left us in the first place
(I know you saw me in my sleep)

Spoke a lesson that I'll carry to my grave
I'm not the same as once before
Counting coffins here and making my amends
I can't do this anymore

If I could stay inside this lucid dream
Where everything is exactly as it seems

Silence sets
I felt a shake in my voice
So many things went through my head
But there was only one choice
To speak on purpose as hard as it may be
"Why have you come to see me?"

If I could stay inside this lucid dream
Where everything is exactly as it seems
I wouldn't mind taking my time catching up to
Reminisce of better moments like when you were here and alive
Can't thank you enough for all of your time

I just want to know why you are here and why me
Am I getting my message fully through to you?
Am I speaking as clear as I can?
You're as lucid to me as before this dream
I will not settle for subtle hidden messages
So why are you here?
With a smirk on your face you spoke:
"Just because I have died doesn't mean you're alone"

If I could stay inside this lucid dream
Where everything is exactly as it seems
I wouldn't mind taking my time catching up to

Reminisce of better moments like when you were here and alive
Can't thank you enough for all of your time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Reliance's song "Lucid" depict a dream in which the singer sees someone they have lost, but in the dream, the person is still alive. The dreamer feels a sense of relief and comfort from seeing the person and wishes they could stay in the dream forever. The dreamer also reflects on how they have changed since the person's death and how they are trying to make amends for their past mistakes.

The dream takes a turn when the dreamer asks the person why they have come to see them, and the person responds with a reassuring message that even though they have died, the dreamer is not alone. The final stanza of the song expresses the dreamer's desire to stay in the lucid dream and relive happier memories of when the person was alive, while also expressing gratitude for the time they had together.

Overall, the song explores themes of grief, loss, and the desire for connection even when someone is no longer physically present. The dream serves as a way for the dreamer to process their emotions and feel a sense of closeness to the person they have lost.

A few months ago my girlfriend passed away, I felt that my life fell apart at that time, knowing that with the person with whom I shared several beautiful and important moments, I will never do it again. From there, lately I have constantly dreamed of her and I can only wake up just crying. I just got out of a very heavy depression, and it was the moment where I found this song. God, you don't know how I thank you for this song, I love to sing it and feel that same feeling that reminds me of how I am with her in my dreams..... very lucid dreams!
A huge greeting from an Ecuadorian guy, keep inspiring and ''can’t thank you enough for all of your time''

@jordansoto674

Yo you have me tearing up. Thank you for sharing this with us <3 I'll make sure to pass this off to the rest of the band. Sorry to hear about your girlfriend, that's one of the hardest things to cope with. Death is a hard hitting, world shaking feeling and music although doesn't mend, it helps cope. That's why we wrote this, and we are grateful that you feel what we we're out to do with this tune. Much love to you and we are here to talk when ever. <3

P.S. I am also Ecuadorian too, so its good to hear from you brother :D
