Awaiting Your Reply
Resurrection Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
"Where in the world have you been"
I said "I've been all around,
But I ain't seen a thing"
I was lying in my bed
Trying to arrange my head
When a letter came in from Him
Saying I was dead
Into my heart
Though the channel was clear,
I didn't want to hear, it made me worried
When you're out with the boys
Walking paranoid, and all your toys
Make you discouraged,
It's really sad you know
When you've nothing to show,
And there it reads on the bottom line
"I love you...Awaiting your reply"
Why did He have to word it like that
Why can't He let me be
It was bad enough that He offered His love,
But why did He fry my head with that last line
"Awaiting your reply"
I could laugh in the face of life
I could laugh in the face of lies
But I knew I couldn't keep Him waiting-
I had so little time
So I called Him up
Asked for Him by name
He passed me the ticket
And I boarded the plane
We pulled out onto the airport runway
We began to climb as the whole world exploded
I'd just asked Him for His lifeline
The blood, the blood of Jesus is His lifeline
So sit down and read His letter
His love is clearly defined
When you're done with His words
You won't forget what you've heard
And in His love, He'll haunt you day and night
"Awaiting your reply"
The lyrics of Resurrection Band's song 'Awaiting Your Reply' deal with the idea of death, redemption, and love. The singer receives a letter that says he is dead and signed in blood. He gets paranoid and anxious with the idea of death, but the letter ends with 'I love you...Awaiting your reply.' The singer is confused about why the letter had to end like that. He feels like he has nothing to show and that it's really sad. However, he realizes that he needs to respond to the letter and accept the love that God is offering him. He then calls up God and receives His lifeline. The singer paints a beautiful picture of God's love, which will haunt you day and night after you've accepted it.

A voice on the other end said
A person spoke to me on the phone
"Where in the world have you been"
They asked me where I've been traveling
I said "I've been all around,
I answered them confidently that I have traveled globally
But I ain't seen a thing"
Despite my traveling, I haven't gained new experiences
I was lying in my bed
I was resting in my bed
Trying to arrange my head
I was trying to sort out my thoughts
When a letter came in from Him
I received a letter from God
Saying I was dead
The letter informed me that I was spiritually dead
It was signed in blood, it was mailed
The letter was signed with blood, and God sent it to me
Into my heart
God's message reached my innermost being
Though the channel was clear,
The message from God was evident
I didn't want to hear, it made me worried
Even though I knew the message was true, I was afraid
When you're out with the boys
When you're hanging out with your friends
Walking paranoid, and all your toys
Feeling anxious and scared, despite having material things
Make you discouraged,
These things made me feel dejected
It's really sad you know
It's a sorrowful experience
When you've nothing to show,
Even though you have nothing to display
And there it reads on the bottom line
At the end of the message, it reads
"I love you...Awaiting your reply"
"I love you, and I am waiting for your response"
Why did He have to word it like that
I wondered why God phrased His message in that way
Why can't He let me be
I wished that God wouldn't interrupt my life
It was bad enough that He offered His love,
God showing me love was sufficient but challenging for me
But why did He fry my head with that last line
I felt overwhelmed by God's conclusion to His message
"Awaiting your reply"
"I am waiting for your response"
I could laugh in the face of life
I thought I could handle anything in life
I could laugh in the face of lies
I believed that I could discern truth from falsehoods
But I knew I couldn't keep Him waiting-
However, I realized I couldn't keep God waiting
I had so little time
I had limited time to respond to God's message
So I called Him up
I prayed to God
Asked for Him by name
I addressed God specifically
He passed me the ticket
God gave me a chance
And I boarded the plane
I accepted God's offer
We pulled out onto the airport runway
We started our spiritual journey together
We began to climb as the whole world exploded
As we embarked on the spiritual journey, everything else became distant
I'd just asked Him for His lifeline
I asked God for His guidance in life
The blood, the blood of Jesus is His lifeline
God's guidance comes from the blood of Jesus Christ
So sit down and read His letter
I encourage you to take time and read God's message
His love is clearly defined
God's message shows His love for you
When you're done with His words
After reading God's message in its entirety
You won't forget what you've heard
You will remember God's message
And in His love, He'll haunt you day and night
God's message will stay with you forever
"Awaiting your reply"
"I am waiting for your response"

despite what the world believes people should be listening to, Rez Band never gave in. This album was so ahead of the game in so many areas I wish a few more Christian bands would have followed this path and kept it real! This stuff speaks to the broken !

I'll give them that. They stayed on the course. Stu Heiss and Glenn Kaiser could have played with anyone in heavy rock.

Years go by. I change. God remains the same. This music touches my heart as it did then.

43 years ago I heard His voice deep in my hidden heart. My reply was OK I will obey, I will live my life your way...I have tried to hide from God but he has been with me since! I replied!

I never thought I'd EVER hear this again! Give almost anything to have it back on vinyl even. Where can I buy this album!? The whole album was amazing! I don't know what could have possibly happened to it, but at any rate, would love to get it on DVD!
