"While SAVED! is a record meant to be heard in full, the first single “All Of My Friends Are Going To Hell” is a cheeky little apocalyptic Christian separatist morality tale, a fire and brimstone saga inspired by Louvin Brothers tunes like “The Christian Life.” It is performed on piano prepared with bells and chains. Incidentally it is not actually about any of my friends. The Billy Sunday inspired video is composed of two one-shot takes imposed over each other through analog projection in my basement, which is the site of this record, and was directed and edited by me with shooting assistance from my dearest Kyle, who, anecdotally, stepped in to save my life after I was swept away in the current of the river immediately after we finished filming. PSA: Don’t shoot a video at the confluence of two rivers during a flash flood warning."
ALL OF MY FRIENDS ARE GOING TO HELL

Sucking her teeth 'til you bend to her will
Cruelty and greed may on earth serve you well
But when you die, you are going to hell
When you hear 'em coming, you better run
Better hold your name fast on your tongue
Better fear his wrath in all you do
All of my friends are going to hell
None of them know from what I can tell
I'm getting up from the place where I fell
Lord, please forgive me
I don't want to be like my friends who are going to hell
Brother who knows what goes on in the night
He won't lift his voice to speak up for what's right
Silence may let you to sit for a spell
But when you die, you are going to hell
All of my friends are going to hell
None of them know from what I can tell
I'm getting up from the place where I fell
Jesus, please save me
I don't want to live like my friends who are going to hell
Sisters turn their backs when you're down and out
They'll talk about you out both sides of their mouth
Better fear that fire in all you do
Better pray what befell me won't fall upon you
I can't pretend I've done better than you
I walked in the dark and I lost my way too
But I'm on my knees in the place where I fell
Begging, God save my soul, please don't send me to hell
All of my friends are going to hell
None of them care from what I can tell
But I wanna rise from the place where I fell
Jesus said get some new friends
'Cause these ones are going to hell
The lyrics to Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter's song "All of My Friends Are Going to Hell" address themes of judgment, hypocrisy, and the fear of eternal damnation. The song explores the idea that individuals who exhibit cruelty, greed, and silence in the face of injustice may seem to thrive on Earth, but ultimately face condemnation in the afterlife.
The song begins by introducing a mother figure who exerts control over others through manipulation and intimidation. She is portrayed as someone who takes pleasure in asserting her dominance, but the lyrics suggest that her actions will lead her to damnation.
The second verse shifts the focus to a brother who remains silent in the face of wrongdoing, refusing to speak out for what is right. This brother's lack of action is depicted as a betrayal, and it is implied that his silence will ultimately lead him to hell.
The third verse highlights the betrayal of sisters who turn their backs on those who are down and out. These sisters are shown as being deceptive, talking negatively about others while pretending to be supportive. The lyrics again suggest that their actions will result in them facing consequences in the afterlife.
The chorus repeats the statement "All of my friends are going to hell," emphasizing that the singer is surrounded by people who embody these negative traits. It also expresses the singer's desire to distance themselves from these friends and not be influenced by their actions.
In the final verse, the singer acknowledges their own shortcomings and mistakes, admitting that they too have walked in darkness and lost their way. They express their vulnerability and beg for mercy, pleading with God not to send them to hell.
Overall, the song serves as a critique of those who engage in harmful behaviors and betray their values, suggesting that their actions will have lasting consequences. It also emphasizes the importance of choosing the right friends and living in alignment with one's values to avoid a similar fate.

if lingua ignota is a golden ornate catholic cathedral, this is like the creepy local church with the most deranged fire and brimstone preacher belting at you while you sit in a steel folding chair. absolutely love it

People are mentioning the similarity to War Pigs, and I'm just realizing that War Pigs is almost identical to Appalachian Pentacostal hymns....wow....
@redactedname247
Fully intentional. The brimstone and hellfire was literal in War Pigs.
