1. Swedish singer who had a hit in 2017 with the song Last Dance.
2. Rhys, the star of 2008’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, would like to introduce you to your Summer anthem - Hot Summer.
Rhys has come a long way in the last 12 months. This time last year he was auditioning for the Top 100 in TEN's 'So You Think You Can Dance'. In June this year Rhys was dancing on the show’s final for a television audience of 2 million people. Rhys made a spectacular impact on fans of the show; he was colorful, charismatic and charming - the stand out star of the series.
Rhys has spent the last six months fulfilling his life long dream of recording an album. He has teamed up with the boys from Super Shake productions - the Sydney production team behind the summer remix smash 'Something Good 08' - to create a popular hit with a credible dance edge.
Introducing ‘Hot Summer’ - Rhys’ debut single, and your soundtrack for 3 months of hot days and even hotter nights. Led by a thumping verse and wailing war-cries, eviscerated bass-lines soar into a sun drenched chorus. It’s white hot. Just ask Network TEN, who will be featuring ‘Hot Summer’ as their new national promotions hook from late November to February 09.
As we saw on TEN’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, Rhys’ personality, much like his music tastes, are delightfully unpredictable; 'For me music and movement have always gone hand in hand. I like anything that makes me wanna dance. Be it indy and disco, to soulful house and gospel. Growing up at the Johnny Young Talent School has definitely defined my eclectic tastes. Throw in some electro, breaks and I’m there! Major influences on me have been the likes of Prince, ELO, Madonna, Queen, Daft Punk, Madonna and Basement Jaxx. I’m also totally inspired by some amazing Aussie acts at the moment, like the Presets, Midnight Juggernauts, Gotye and Van She.'
Already sure to be a crossover club smash, Hot Summer is supported by remixes from some equally hot Australian talent.
From Canberra, The Aston Shuffle lead the charge, adding Prince-eqsue disco fireworks and staccato demolition to mix.
Trumpdisco, emerging from the darkest recesses of Melbourne's infamous all-weekend clubs, push the original from 'Hot' to 'Burnt' while home-town contemporaries The Hundreds and Thousands reminisce about summertime pool parties that stretch long into the night. It’s going to be a hot summer indeed…

Well, if you do, now baby, you're not being honest
I hear your sweet talk, dripping to the static
And I ain't gonna let you, I ain't gonna let you in
Telling me your only crime is your big heart
Baby, baby, who you really tryna outsmart?
Don't you know I know a little thing or two?
Oh, I ain't gonna let you, I ain't gonna let you in
I don't think you're ready for my love
I ain't gonna let you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (vacancy)
No, no, no, no, no, no more you and me (you and me)
Ain't got no room for you
Just doom and gloom for you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (vacancy)
I can hear your heavy breathing down my intercom
Know exactly where you've been and where you're coming from
Busy working to convince me you're the victim
But I ain't gonna let you, I ain't gonna let you in
'Cause I want something real this time
Nothing good turning bad on a dime
I hear your sweet talk, baby, turning frantic
I ain't gonna let you, I ain't gonna let you in
Oh, I ain't gonna let you, I ain't gonna let you in
I don't think you're ready for my love
I ain't gonna let you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (vacancy)
No, no, no, no, no, no more you and me (you and me)
Ain't got no room for you
Just doom and gloom for you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (vacancy)
I don't think you're ready for my love
I don't think you can handle a good thing
I don't think you're ready for my love
Can't have the cookie and eat it too
If you're wanting me back
Gotta leave them all behind
You wanna get in
I ain't gonna let you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (I ain't gonna let you)
No, no, no, no, no, no more you and me
Ain't got no room for you
Just doom and gloom for you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (I ain't gonna let you)
No, no, no, no, no, no more you and me
Ain't got no room for you
Just doom and gloom for you
No, no, no, no, no, no vacancy (vacancy)
In the song "No Vacancy" by Rhys, the lyrics revolve around the singer rejecting the advances of a player or manipulative person. The singer is not easily swayed by sweet words or promises, as they have seen through the facade and are determined to protect themselves from getting hurt. The lyrics present a sense of empowerment and assertiveness, with the singer refusing to let this person into their life.
The first verse addresses the false promises made by the player, questioning their honesty. The singer is aware of their manipulative tactics and is not willing to fall for them. The second verse emphasizes the singer's knowledge and understanding, suggesting that they have been through similar situations before and have learned from them. They refuse to be taken advantage of and won't allow this person to enter their life.
The chorus repeats the phrases "no vacancy" and "no more you and me" to emphasize the singer's unwillingness to give this person a chance. They express that there is no room in their life for this individual and that there is only doom and gloom waiting for them. The bridge of the song further reiterates the singer's doubts about this person's ability to handle a genuine and healthy relationship. They make it clear that if this person wants a chance with them, they have to leave behind their manipulations and past actions.
Overall, "No Vacancy" is a powerful anthem about self-respect and the refusal to let someone toxic enter one's life. It highlights the importance of recognizing manipulative behaviors and standing up for oneself.
