Can we put down the roles that we've played so many times
Is this really the final curtain
The end of the play
Or will we just dance this dance we've danced again and again and again
[Chorus:]
There's no turning back this time baby
Once again I walk away
With every step I leave you behind me
Once again I walk away
Determined this time you'll be sorry
Once again I walk away
But if you ask me you know that I'd stay
If we put out the sun and stopped it from shining
Girl we both know
We still couldn't be anymore in the dark
Ooh there's no flashlight
There's no insight
As hard as we try
Ooh we keep running round in circles
Time after time, hello, goodbye
I walk away
I walk away
But I know that I'll be back again
I walk away
I walk away
But I know tat I'll be back again
Yeah I walk away
I walk away
I walk away
But I know that I'll be back again
I walk away
I walk away
But I know that I'll be back again
I walk away
I walk away
But I know that I'll be back again
I walk away
I walk away
The lyrics of Rhythm and Blues' song "Walk the Walk" depict the end of a relationship that has been played out, and the difficult decision to move on. The first verse asks if the masquerade, or facade, of the relationship is finally over and if they can put down the roles they have played so many times. The singer questions if this is truly the end of the relationship, or if they will continue to dance the same dance they've done before, never making any real progress.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Once again I walk away" several times, emphasizing the difficulty of making the decision to end things for good. The singer is resolute that this time, they will not turn back, and they are determined to make their partner sorry for letting them go. However, the final line of the chorus provides a conflicting message: "But if you ask me you know that I'd stay." This highlights the internal struggle of the singer, who still has a desire to be with their partner despite knowing that it's not the best option for them.
The second verse provides further insight into the toxic nature of the relationship, stating that even if they were to stop the world and remove any outside distractions, they would still be in the dark about their situation. They have tried to make things work but they continue to run around in circles, saying hello and goodbye repeatedly. This verse hints at the idea that the relationship has reached a point where it is no longer healthy and both parties need to move on for their own well-being.
Overall, "Walk the Walk" is a powerful song about the difficult decision to end an unhealthy relationship. It highlights the internal struggle that often accompanies such a decision, and the conflicting emotions that can arise. The repetition of the phrase "I walk away" throughout the song emphasizes the pain and determination involved in the process of letting go.

No comments? well, no one asked, but to play the intro Luther plays here, simply; place your index finger at 3rd fret on D, and your pinky on 5th fret on A and pick twice on D and once on A and repeat for 5 times, and switch your index to fret 1 on A and place your pinky on 3rd fret D and play those for 5 or 6 times...I lost count on how much to pick them for, but that's it!
