Time Warp 2007
Richard O'Brien Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's astounding
Time is fleeting
Madness takes it's toll
But listen closely
Not for very much longer

I've got to keep control
I remember doing the time warp
Drinking those moments when
The blackness would hit me
And the void would be calling

Let's do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again
It's just a jump to the left
An then a step to the right
With your hands on your hip

You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again

It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me
So you can't see me, no, not at all
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention
Well secluded, I see all

With a bit of a mind flip
You're into the time slip
And nothing can ever be the same
You're spaced out on sensation
Like you're under sedation
Let's do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again

Well I was walking down the street just a-having a think
When a snake of a guy give me an evil wink
He shook-a me up, he took me by surprise
He had a pickup truck, and the devil's eyes
He starred at me and I felt a change
Time meant nothing, never would again

Let's do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again
It's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
With your hands on your hip

You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane

Let's do the time warp again
Let's do the time warp again

Overall Meaning

The Time Warp is a song that requires physical participation, and it appears multiple times in the cult classic musical film, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. In the first verse, the lyrics offer a warning: time moves quickly and madness can take control. The singer urges the listener to listen closely and to “keep control” because they don’t have much longer to do so. Then the singer describes a state of mind where they experience blackouts and voids. When the singer urges the listener to do the time-warp again, they’re essentially inviting them to escape this harsh reality and instead embrace a world where they can be in control, where they can let loose and do pelvic thrusts to drive themselves "insane."

It’s sucks that Richard O’Brien would be lucky to have made a million dollars from the Rocky Horror movie that made over three hundred million dollars at the time. No royalties. Nothing.

Parasitic executives and their lawyers pride themselves on turning the talent into serfs.

Comedian Dave Chapelle had some things to say about greedy studios.

Prince too had issues with a record company screwing him and owning name.

Michelle Shocked has long been at war with record companies or producers.

Alot of people don't know that yes he was close to Richard in his play days. Lol you all know the Dame persona is his personal sthick. Richard is an androgynous personality as well but I always saw him as a rockstar and bloody hell he is great at it!

Barry Humphries also wrote one of the best reviews of the Rocky stage play for Punch Magazine in 1973. He said the show was "Impossible to over praise".

I was actually at the taping of this episode, it was one of the most surreal experiences... 😂

Shirley Bassey was the musical guest and had to keep doing retakes until she got the song perfect.

Was Richard only out as long as seen in this video?

anthony armour
