Lovely Lady
Richard Sanderson Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Somedays she's an eagle flying high
Reaching for heights unforeseen
Trying to cope with the body
Of a woman and the mind of a child
She'd left behind
The child she'd always been
Sometimes she will hide a broken wing
Ashamed to let you see
Some foolish thing that's so small
It doesn't matter, but to her
It's a thing she couldn't share
She couldn't make a scene
She's a lady lady lady lady lady
She'll always be in my heart
Even in the end as a start
She's a lady lady lady lady lady
We'll never be far apart
Even in the end when tear drops start
The song Lovely Lady by Richard Sanderson is a touching tribute to a woman who is complex and multi-dimensional. Sanderson portrays the woman as someone who has both a childlike innocence and an eagle's determination to soar to new heights. On some days, she's like an eagle, reaching for heights that are unforeseen, and on others, she's like a child, struggling to cope with the responsibility of being a woman. The woman has left behind the child she once was, but she still struggles with the balance between her childlike innocence and her adult responsibilities.
Sanderson also describes how the woman often hides her vulnerabilities, like a broken wing she's ashamed to show. She's afraid to let anyone see her weaknesses and struggles, even if they seem small and insignificant. But to her, they matter tremendously, and she can't bring herself to share them with anyone. Despite her challenges, the woman remains a "lovely lady", someone who is cherished and always in Sanderson's heart. Even when tears are shed at the end, they will never be far apart.
Overall, Richard Sanderson's Lovely Lady is a poignant tribute to a complex and inspiring woman. The song highlights the struggles many women face - trying to balance the demands of adulthood with the innocence of childhood, hiding vulnerabilities and trying to seem strong, and ultimately trying to remain true to oneself in the face of adversity.
