dont write me off
Riding Bikes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Breathing in the air. left by tired clouds. i'm sorry all I know is this time i can't. i can't explain myself. i still wanna breathe the way i used to breathe. don't write me off just yet. couldn't you see me slipping into this. too late now mirror's on the ground and shattered by my fist. strung out and stripped by all my innocence. filled my hopes so high. understand that there's no excuse for my actions. i don't know how to deal with myself. i'm falling too far this time. don't write me off just yet. couldn't you see me slipping into this. too late now mirror's on the ground and shattered by my fist. strung out and stripped by all my innocence. filled my hopes so high. so easy to look behind. when you stopped running in place. open my eyes again so i can see and let this song be the sound that heals me. couldn't you see me slipping into this too late now mirror's on the ground and shattered by my fist. strung out and stripped by all my innocence. filled my hopes so high.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Riding Bikes' song Don't Write Me Off is an introspective piece about struggling with one's actions and feeling remorseful about it. The song describes a feeling of being lost and helpless, the singer finds himself unable to explain his situation to himself or to others around him. He wants to feel the way he used to feel, but the burden of guilt is weighing him down. The line "Breathing in the air left by tired clouds" creates an image of melancholy and sadness, adding to the emotions conveyed in the song.

The chorus "Don't write me off just yet" is the singer's plea for understanding and compassion. Despite his mistakes, he wants to be given a chance to redeem himself. The lines "Strung out and stripped by all my innocence. Filled my hopes so high" highlights the frustration of having one's expectations crushed and innocence taken away. The second verse talks about a shattered mirror and the consequences of one's actions. The line "so easy to look behind when you stopped running in place" shows the internal conflict of wanting to go back and change things, but realizing that it's too late. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer wanting to open his eyes again and be healed.

This song is still rocked at regular intervals. If a member of Riding Bikes sees this: You made great music and it will never be forgotten! <3

this song's name came to my head while i was about to pee, just because I thought "It's about time to make this family name proud" haha, good old memories, I agree with those saying this band should've rung more.

I was always impressed Riding Bikes never made more noise...I loved them above most other Jersey bands around their level and above (Finding Westerly, Tokyo Rose, Armour for Sleep) but all are great and I wish the EP links still worked
