Sicalyptico, her second album, to date and it is comprehensibly a timeless classic from start to finish. Nothing revolutionary for her but, this record incorporates a delicate sexy perspiration (Sicaliptico is synonymous with erotic in Spanish).
None of the 14 tracks are disappointing, there is some ultra-catchy international jet setting and bubblegum flair emulating The Bugaloos on “Believe”, wind chiming summery echoes on “Barefoot In The Park” (N. Hefti), stream acoustic delicacies as “Wailing Of The Willow” or “If” a la Astrud Gilberto, some jazzman's boulevard outing i.e. “On The Trail”, chiffon scarf fluttering in the breeze behind her voice in “Good To Be Around” or “ Lady (With The Tangerine Blouse)” and of course passionate moments on •Bacalov’s “The Key Witness”. And of course we added two songs by our demigods Paul Williams and Roger Nichols “The Drifter” and “It’s Hard To Say Goodbye”.
Despite the title that suggests spooky and dark sounds, we find that her music is very pop, bright, happy, funny even at times. Rita delivers breathy and utterly charming vocals as if she were seducing you. It is plausible to imagine that her as a mermaid, out of water, now in human form, female perfection.
Rita Calypso is a goddess of the female vocals in sophisticated environments and her partners in crime, Ramón Leal and Mateo Guiscafré are her equal. After her participation in the trilogy Sol y sombra, Educacion y descanso and Información y Turismo it was only a question of time and public request that the inhouse producers would device a well-arranged record with a tasteful selection of orchestral songs, crystal clear strings and trumpets. The result is a pop treasure of 13 stunning tracks and a very nice production that puts Leal & Guiscafré next to Tommy LiPuma, Eumir Deodato, Albert Gorgoni, Augusto Algueró or Charles Fox.
Siesta has a knack for fashioning simple, yet perfectly formed pop records. The albums are executed perfectly and the imagination never stops. Iot is also plausible to imagine Rita singing while strolling through a meadow of sunflowers, breezes gently blowing her hair...
Finally: Do not mistake our Rita for the homonymous German transvestite. Our Rita is very feminine and not a drag artist!!
If you love those eternal records Rita is your ticket to paradise.
The End Of The World
Rita Calypso Lyrics

Why does the sea rush to shore
Don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cause you don't love me any more
Why do the birds go on singing
Why do the stars glow above
Don't they know it's the end of the world
I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything's the same as it was
I can't understand, no, I can't understand
How life goes on the way it does
Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye
Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye
Rita Calypso's "The End of the World" is a classic heartbreak song that laments the end of a love affair. The lyrics to the song are straightforward and poignant, with the singer wondering why the world seems to be carrying on as usual despite the fact that their relationship is over. The song is built around a series of rhetorical questions, with each verse asking why various natural phenomena - the sun, the sea, the birds, the stars - continue to exist even though the singer's world has collapsed.
The song's central metaphor - that the end of a relationship is like the end of the world - is a powerful one, and it is one that has been employed in countless songs in the years since "The End of the World" was first released. The song captures the feeling of being left behind, of feeling like the rest of the world is somehow out of step with your own emotions. The refrain of "Don't they know it's the end of the world?" is a powerful one, since it highlights the sense of alienation that can accompany heartbreak.
Overall, "The End of the World" is a timeless classic that has resonated with audiences for more than half a century. Its themes of heartbreak and isolation are universal, and the song's simple, memorable melody has made it a favorite of singers and audiences alike for generations.
