Jordan
Rival Sons (USA) Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And the ocean to the sky
I've looks to my whole life
Now I have to say goodbye
But to say that I've lost you
It's a selfish thing to say
I've never seen nothing as beautiful
I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
You did it all with feeling
And failure, you took it gracefully
You said third star to the right
And straight on until morning
When you need me, you know
That's where I'll be
Now the rest of my life without you
Right now it's hard to conceive
You said, don't cry form me now
You've got to remember
There is no death for those that believe
I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
The song "Jordan" by Rival Sons (USA) is a powerful and emotional tribute to a loved one who has passed away. The lyrics convey the singer's deep love and admiration for the person who has left them, as well as their belief in an afterlife and the comforting notion of being reunited with their loved one in a better place.
The opening lines of the song contrast the wild and natural world - personified in the wolves and the ocean - with the human experience of loss and grief. The singer reflects on their own life, and how their experiences pale in comparison to the beauty and wonder of their loved one slipping away. While it is natural to feel a sense of selfishness and despair in the face of such a loss, the singer ultimately accepts and embraces the idea that their loved one is now at peace, surrounded by angels, and free from the pain and struggles of life.
Despite the heartache and longing that the singer feels, there is also a strong sense of hope and faith in the lyrics. The phrase "there is no death for those that believe" suggests a deep spiritual conviction that death is not the end, but merely a transition to a new phase of existence. The reference to "the other side of the Jordan" is likely a biblical allusion to the River Jordan, which is associated with death and rebirth in Christian theology. By expressing their desire to "meet" their loved one on the other side, the singer is not only acknowledging their own mortality, but affirming their belief in an afterlife and the idea that they will one day be reunited with their loved one.
Overall, "Jordan" is a moving and poignant tribute to the power of love, loss, and faith. Through its heartfelt lyrics, the song speaks to the universal experience of grief and the certainty of death, while also reminding us that hope and love can endure even in the darkest of times.

Sometimes we want people to stay here with us because we care so much about them. However they are at their time to leave us and pass. Often to stay for them means suffering for many reasons. In that situation wanting to keep them here can be selfish in a way! It all comes down to whats best for them, not us! Hard to say let alone do! This song touches that issue.....
"I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me.
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free......"
Beautiful and Sad, yet true!
If you have experienced this you can really appreciate this song even more!

So far there are only 241 demons attacking.
There are more than 13,000 angels singing along with just this one song.
Goodness still outnumbers evil, as now you can see.
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan, once I am proven wrong.
God Bless The Rival Sons and their ministry.
You restore faith, love and truth.
Grateful for eternity,
Cedric P.
God Bless you.

17 months ago, my father passed away and Jordan helped me so much to deal with my grief. Now, I lost my mother last wednesday. I was holding her in my arms when she passed away. So sad... but, again, Jordan helped me to deal with my new grief. May God bless Rival Sons.

swampyD1000 I absolutely love "Good Things". Not only is the music really good, but the lyrics are incredible. It's my go too song when life feels overwhelming. It just helps me to remember that nothing lasts forever, not even the bad times.
