Bodies
Robbie Williams & Gary Barlow Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

(Gregorian chant-style intro, lyrics missing)

God gave me the sunshine, then showed me my lifeline
I was told it was all mine, then I got laid on the layline
What a day, what a day, and your Jesus really died for me
Then Jesus really tried for me

UK and entropy, I feel like its *fuckin* (beeped out) me
Wanna feed off the energy, love living like a deity
What a day, one day, and your Jesus really died for me
I guess Jesus really tried for me

Bodies in the bodhi tree, Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family, Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery, and thatโ€™s the way itโ€™s gonna be

All weโ€™ve ever wanted is to look good naked hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection from my reflection, I want perfection

Praying for the rapture, cause itโ€™s stranger getting stranger
And everythingโ€™s contagious itโ€™s the modern middle ages
All day every day and if Jesus really died for me
Then Jesus really tried for me

Bodies in the bodhi tree, Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family, Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery, and thatโ€™s the way itโ€™s gonna be

All weโ€™ve ever wanted is to look good naked hope that someone can take it
God save me rejection from my reflection, I want perfection

(Gregorian chant-style chorus, lyrics missing)

Bodies in the bodhi tree, Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family, Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery,
Bodies in the bodhi tree, Bodies making chemistry
Bodies on my family, Bodies in the way of me
Bodies in the cemetery, and thatโ€™s the way itโ€™s gonna be

All weโ€™ve ever wanted is to look good naked hope that someone can take it
So God save me rejection from my reflection, I want perfection

Jesus didnโ€™t die for you, what do you want?
(I want perfection)
Jesus didnโ€™t die for you, what are you on?
(I need some ...) [missing]

Overall Meaning

The song "Bodies" by Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow explores themes of religion, mortality, and the desire for physical perfection. The opening lines "God gave me the sunshine, then showed me my lifeline" suggest a gratitude for life and a recognition of a higher power. However, the lyrics soon turn dark with "UK and entropy, I feel like it's f***in' me" which alludes to a sense of frustration or despair. The desire to "love living like a deity" and "want perfection" indicates a need for control and a sense of self-worth through physical appearance. The chorus of "Bodies in the bodhi tree, Bodies making chemistry" implies that physical bodies are interconnected and can potentially lead to creation or destruction. The song ultimately questions the true value of religion and the individual's search for purpose and meaning.

Being a real man is not about being flawless, being a real man is about having balls to face your own flaws and apologize. Both of these dudes have grown into real men that way

This song reunited me and my brother after 12 years. Forever glad.

@simondennis9460

This is delightful to hear!!

@evviesands

Those who see sexual tension between them don't know these guys have a huge history together: they were childhood friends, grew up together as members of a super successful boy band, then their egos clashed, friendships were broken and both went their separate way. Now that they're older and more mature they can reconcile their differences. Awwwwww! I love this bromance!

@NankoRi

This is probably the most beautiful song ever when you know the background of it.

@tallbrowngal

I've very rarely heard voices harmonize so beautifully. Two of the best male voices in the industry coming together is just love

Forgive me but if those two were close to best at anything in the industry, the industry would fall.
