Jealous, jealous,
When I see you with that guy
And he catches your pretty eye
You know it makes we want to die
And I'm left out to dry
You know it makes me want to feel
Jealous, jealous,
Don't you know that it makes me green
When I think about you and him
I'm just an end to all your means
And I'm torn apart at the seams
You know it makes me want to feel
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
When I see you with that guy
And he catches your pretty eye
You know it makes we want to die
Oh, and I'm left out to dry
You know it makes me want to feel
You know it makes me want to feel jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous,
Jealous, jealous
In Robert Palmer's song "Jealous," the singer expresses his feelings of jealousy towards a girl he is interested in who is paying attention to another guy. The recurring phrase "jealous, jealous" portrays the intensity of the singer's emotions, emphasizing that he is envious of the attention that the girl is giving to someone else. The lyrics suggest that the singer feels that he is just being used for his attention and companionship, and that the girl is not really interested in him.
The line "I'm just an end to all your means" suggests that the girl is only using the singer to make the other guy jealous, and is not truly invested in their relationship. The singer expresses his pain and longing for the girl through the line "you know it makes me want to die, and I'm left out to dry." The lyrics convey the feeling of being left behind and unimportant to the person that they care about, producing a visceral feeling of jealousy.
In conclusion, Robert Palmer's "Jealous" is a reflective song about jealousy and the harmful effects it can have on a relationship. The lyrics express the pain and frustration that the singer feels upon seeing the girl he is interested in giving attention to someone else, conveying the emotional complexity of relationships.
