The Last Love Song
Robertson Brothers Lyrics

what used to be
it makes me sad
you were my love
you were my best friend
but is over now
gotta live somehow
without you here
without the smile
I miss so much
you give your heart
to another man
now he is over you
nothing I can do
This is the last love song
cause the feeling is almost gone
you were the first love I ever knew
This is the last love song I am gonna write
for you
This old house
don't feel the same
and by the way, just whispering your name
I am so alone
I am so afraid
to fall in love again
so I ll pretend
that this is the last love song
cause the feeling is almost gone
you were the first love I ever knew
This is the last love song I am gonna write for you
There is no use denying these tears I have been crying
for something that we could have been
"The Last Love Song" by Robertson Brothers is a heart-wrenching ballad about lost love and moving on. The lyrics capture the essence of pain and sadness that come with the end of a relationship. Looking back at what used to be, the singer expresses how it makes them sad that their love and best friend are gone. Even though they have to live without their loved one now, they cannot help but miss their touch, smile and kind heart. Unfortunately, their love is now with another man, and there is nothing they can do about it. The singer comes to terms with the fact that this is the last love song they will ever write for their former lover, as the feeling of love is almost gone.
The second verse of the song finds the singer in a state of loneliness and despair. The old house does not feel the same, and they keep whispering their lover's name. They are afraid to fall in love again and choose to pretend that this is the last love song they will ever write for their loved one. They cannot help but cry for what could have been between them.
In summary, "The Last Love Song" is a touching and emotional song that explores the pain of heartbreak and letting go. It is a reminder that even when love ends, life goes on, and time heals all wounds.

Looking there
As I look to the past
what used to be
At the things that were once there
it makes me sad
I am filled with sorrow
you were my love
You were the one I loved
you were my best friend
You were the one I confided in
but is over now
But that time has passed
gotta live somehow
I must continue to go on
without you here
Without you being around
without your touch
Without your physical presence
without the smile
Without the joy you brought
I miss so much
I long for it dearly
you give your heart
You gave your love
to another man
To someone else
now he is over you
Now he no longer loves you
nothing I can do
I am powerless to change it
This is the last love song
This is the final tribute to our love
cause the feeling is almost gone
Because the emotions are fading
you were the first love I ever knew
You were my first true love
This is the last love song I am gonna write
This is the final piece I will dedicate to you
This old house
This familiar place
don't feel the same
Doesn't have the same charm
and by the way, just whispering your name
And even uttering your name softly
I am so alone
I am incredibly lonely
I am so afraid
I am filled with fear
to fall in love again
To enter into another romantic relationship
so I'll pretend
So I will carry on as if
that this is the last love song
That this will be the last tribute to love
cause the feeling is almost gone
Because the emotions are fading
you were the first love I ever knew
You were my first true love
This is the last love song I am gonna write for you
This is the final piece I will dedicate to you
There is no use denying these tears I have been crying
It is pointless to try to hide these tears I have shed
for something that we could have been
For the potential that our relationship could have had

I remember this song would always come on the radio on love song dedications on a Sydney station back in 99. I related to it so, so much at the time.

I remember seeing these guys at a Christmas event a good 14 years ago, after which I downloaded a couple of songs, put them on a CD. Lost the CD, no longer have the computer and now at 30 years old I can't for the life of me remember the names of the songs. I do remember that I loved the songs a lot and would force my family to listen to them on road trips XD

This takes me back to my high school days. The night I first heard the story behind this beautiful song,on Love song dedication. I was heart broken and in love at the same time. I wish Love song dedication was still on. I miss those days, listening to love stories of different people. Love is so addicted.
