Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Robinson Porter's song "Say My Name" seem to be a plea or a demand to the listener to acknowledge the singer's identity by saying their name with honor. The repetition of the phrase "Say my name and you can" and the emphasis on the phrase "say it with honor" suggests that the singer is seeking recognition and validation from the listener. This may be interpreted as a desire for respect and acceptance, or an assertion of the singer's individuality and self-worth.

The use of repetition in the song creates a hypnotic and almost mantra-like effect, emphasizing the importance and urgency of the message. The sparse and repetitive instrumentation also supports this effect, creating a sense of minimalism and focus on the lyrics. The use of voice distortion and echo effects adds an otherworldly and slightly eerie quality to the song, enhancing the emotional impact of the lyrics.

Overall, "Say My Name" can be interpreted as a powerful statement of identity and self-worth, urging the listener to acknowledge and honor the singer's unique existence.

Porter made this song at 17 and it hit #1 on Beatport just after he turned 18.
I'm 18 and just graduated from high school. I've done nothing.

I'm gonna fucking cry now.

This has so many likes that I did not expect. Thank you so much to those of you who replied so supportively. And to those who relate to my comment, thank you for not making me feel like I'm the only one who feels like I can't do anything. I turn 19 in less than a week and I've been trying demos of FL Studio and Sylenth1 since then. I'm considering taking college classes for this since I get lost in the program itself. I'm having fun with it while I can, though. It's so heartbreakingly complex to use but I really want to put in effort and time to it. I want to make the hard-hitting complextro sounds that influences me, with my own ideas and concepts about living in today's world.

Porter, if you're reading this: Thank you, because all of your music is beautiful. Be it Worlds or Spitfire; As long as I can hear the hard work put into it, I love every second of it. ♡
