Do It Again
Robyn/Röyksopp Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let's do it again
Blow my mind
Do it again
And then it arrives
The moment before
The anticipation
Wait for it
Wait for the buildup
And then let's do it again
We do what we want
And as soon as it's done
We just do it again
Let's do it all
And when we come down
We just do it again
Don't care what they say
It hurts so good
I don't wanna stop
I know I should
(But let's do it again)
One more time
Let's do it again
The thing you did
Do it again
And when it arrives
The moment before
The anticipation
You know it's like mmm
Wait for it
Wait for the buildup
And then let's do it again
We do what we want
And as soon as it's done
We just do it again
Let's do it all
And when we come down
We just do it again
Don't care what they say
It hurts so good
I don't wanna stop
I know I should
We should not be friends
We'll just do it again
If you stay around
We'll just do it again
We should not be friends
We'll just do it again
If you stay around
We'll just do it again
Let's do it again
Don't care what they say
It hurts so good
It hurts so good, mmm
I don't wanna stop
I know I should
But let's do it again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
Again
The lyrics to Robyn/Röyksopp's "Do It Again" express a sense of desire and addiction to a certain activity or experience. The chorus repeats the phrase "One more time/Let's do it again/Blow my mind/Do it again," creating a sense of urgency and needing to repeat something pleasurable. The anticipation before the moment arrives is described as "mmm" and the buildup is eagerly awaited before indulging once more. The song recognizes that the experience may not be entirely healthy ("It hurts so good/I don't wanna stop/I know I should"), yet the desire to continue with it overrides the potential consequences.
The second verse further highlights the addictive nature of the experience, describing its ability to trap the individual into a loop of repeating the activity. The lyrics state, "We do what we want/And as soon as it's done/We just do it again/Let's do it all/And when we come down/We just do it again." The repetition of "we just do it again" reinforces the message that the experience is irresistible and difficult to escape. The song concludes with the implication that the person or people who enable the experience are not necessarily positive influences ("We should not be friends/We'll just do it again/If you stay around/We'll just do it again").

+maly3900 How long have you been using? As someone who was addicted for seven years (got loads prescribed to me for a serious Crohn's Disease flareup), it starts off great, and ends up being quite stressful and anxiety producing, IMO. I would never go back to daily use.
LOL morphine for me was... meh.
Oxycodone / Oxycontin was the best prescription opiate I ever took, but also the most addictive. Seriously, my brain would just scream, "Oxy! Oxy! Oxy!" all. day. long. Tolerance built way too fast, though, and I went from 40 mg / time with a nice high to 120 mg / time with little effects within a few months of daily use.
Got switched up to massive doses of hydromorphone / Dilaudid (100 mg / day) for my Crohn's, and found it stronger in terms of pain relief and "nodding", but less euphoric and less addictive than oxycodone by far.
I've been off methadone for almost two years now, and mostly opioid-clean, except for the occasional Tramadol binge (which does very little for me - I seem to be mostly unaffected by it), and more recently, a fucking AWESOME week long bingefest of U-47700, which is probably the best opioid that I have ever taken by far.
(I am not the type of person that thinks "once an addict, always an addict", so I don't view these as slips or setbacks. I have been addicted to a few things, but after getting over the addiction and taking a few years off, have always been able to come back to them with a clear head and use them in moderation without getting readdicted.)
Oh! One more thing: I HIGHLY suggest, if you want to keep your tolerance low and help stop / slow down addiction, that you consider taking low doses of DXM (say, 60 mg) an hour or so before your opiates. (DXM aka dextromethorphan is the active ingredient in most cough medications, and is a powerful dissociative anaesthetic like ketamine at higher doses.) Also, if you DO find yourself addicted, DXM is an awesome helper to control withdrawals and break the addiction, as it works rather like ibogaine in the brain. I cold-turkey quit 20 mg of methadone a day, which most methadone maintenance therapy patients say would make them wish for death, and had virtually no withdrawal except for a bit of cold sweats and a little unhappiness. That was almost certainly because I was taking around 500 - 600 mg of DXM / day (a decently strong and very psychoactive dose).
Sorry for the rambles... just thought I'd share my experiences :-).
