Got blues, got blues, you got, you got, got, got, got, got, got, got, got
Yeah! Blues!
You got "My boss, man, is a bastard and I want to kill him" blues.
You got "My boyfriend's a motherfucker
and I want to cut his balls off and shove 'em right down his throat" blues.
Can't take it, can't take it no more, can't take it, can't take it no more
I got gun in my mouth blues
I got gun-in-my-mouth blues.
Lookin' out my window, sun comes up, sun comes burnin' down
No answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer
I'm alone in my room, but I'm not by myself
I'm alone in my room, but I'm not by myself
I've got my hands wrapped 'round my gun
I've got my hands wrapped 'round my gun
No answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer, no answer
Can't touch me, can't touch me, can't touch me, can't touch me, can't touch me
Suck in.
Pull it, pull it, pull it, pull it.
The Rollins Band's "Gun In Mouth Blues" presents a heartbreaking portrait of someone suffering from depression and suicidal thoughts. The singer's world is falling apart, as evidenced by the repetition of the phrase "hard times" and "blues." In the chorus, the singer sings, "I got gun in my mouth blues / Lookin' out my window, sun comes up, sun comes burnin' down." The imagery here is particularly poignant, as the sun rising and setting represents the passage of time, yet the singer feels completely stuck and unable to move forward. The repetition of the phrase "no answer," along with the insistent pounding of the drums, reinforces the sense of hopelessness.
Throughout the song, the singer describes different people and situations that are causing them pain. Their boss is "a bastard," their boyfriend is "a motherfucker," and it is clear that their life is becoming unbearable. The final lines of the song are particularly chilling, as the singer sings, "I've got my hands wrapped 'round my gun / Pull it, pull it, pull it, pull it." These lines suggest that the singer is moments away from ending their life, and there is a deep sense of sadness and loss that permeates the song.
Overall, "Gun In Mouth Blues" is a powerful and deeply affecting song that deals with some of the most difficult topics imaginable. From depression to suicide, the Rollins Band tackles these issues head-on and presents an unflinching portrait of someone on the brink.

Seeing Henry perform this live in 88 is a memory I hope I never forget....he let me scream YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH with him onstage. One of Henry's best songs ever.

Regardless of what you think of this song it's true art ; It's very original and I don't think many people could pull off a good cover....... it would sound fake and maybe cheesy -- unless you are just the right person to deliver it.
The Rollins band at times really thought outside the box, and that's why they won't be forgotten.

I like listening to this song when I'm coming down from a long night of drinking and cocaine listening to the birds chirp outside before the sun comes up.

Only difference between us maybe is that I like to first precede this song with The Doors' song "The End"....the 11 min 43 sec version. ; )
