"On The Day" by Rollins Band is a song that is all about the frustration and sense of weariness that the lead singer is feeling in regards to the state of things around him. The opening lines, "What do you know? Same as I know. How do you feel? Same as I feel," give the impression that the singer is surrounded by people who are all reciting the same scripted lines and who don't have anything unique or genuine to say. He knows that everything they're saying is a lie, and he's sick of hearing it.
As the song progresses, the sense of repetition and monotony becomes even more apparent. The same old talk keeps going round and round, and all the smiles around him are turning into frowns. I don't quite agree. I doubt that this lineup could have written the albums from the 90s and the Gibbs/Cain/Haskett lineup could not have written GSGA and Nice.
