1) ROME is a Luxembourgish neofolk act founded in late 2005 as the main output for the songs of Jerome Reuter and was joined by co-producer Patrick Damiani as official member in early 2008. ROME signed to the Swedish label CMI in 2006 to release an EP titled "Berlin" (June 2006) and the albums "Nera" (November 2006), "Confessions d'un voleur d'ames" (April 2007), "Masse Mensch Material" (March 2008). In 2009 ROME got signed to the german label Trisol and released the EP "To Die Among Strangers" (May 2009) and the album "Flowers From Exile" (June 2009).
In their earlier work ROME mixes influences of Industrial and Neofolk with Experimental and Electronic Pop. The traditions of (French) Chanson and (American) Folk are becoming more and more influential in their current work. In 2009 violin player Nikos Mavridis officially joined the band to further contribute to the creation of their unique sound, which they themselves refer to as Chanson Noir. Nikos left the band in late 2010 to answer the army's call and Patrick found himself more and more tied up in the work for his own professional recording studio in Germany. ROME released the EP "L'assassin" in early 2010, shortly before going into hiatus, followed by the full length "Nos chants perdus". In 2011, Jerome, the project's only real flag-bearer, recorded and released the trilogy "Die Aesthetik Der Herrschaftsfreiheit" (Trisol) and has taken up touring again with his new band mates Patrick Kleinbauer, Eric Emmel and Tom Luciani. ROME's lyrics often deal with anarchism and are demanding freedom and equal rights for all people on earth.

Oz of Love
Rome Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We laughed so hard our eyes turned red
Skipping school said, fuck drivers ed
So we jam to the grateful dead, yeah
When you're around baby, time slows down
Role up the windows and just drive around
You're always there when I need you the most
Can I get an oz of love, this week's been a little rough
Taste you once but it's not enough
So come give me an oz of love like
Eh, eh, eh, eh, ooh, oz of love, yeah
They tried to say that you're no good for me
Say what you want because I won't believe
When you role up, you know you smell so sweet
You rub my lips everyday of the week
I'm never ever gonna let you go
My inspiration in the studio
And when you're gone, I can't sleep at night
But you're never gone so I sleep just fine, yeah
Can I get an oz of love, this week's been a little rough
Taste you once but it's not enough
So come give me an oz of love like
Eh, eh, eh, eh, ooh, oz of love, yeah
Ay-o, I wanna breath you in
Ay-o, so give me some loving, yeah
Ay-o, so give me some loving, yeah
Ay-o, so give me some loving, yeah
Ay-o, so give me some loving, yeah
Can I get an oz of love, this week's been a little rough
Taste you once but it's not enough
So come give me an oz of love like
Eh, eh, eh, eh, ooh, oz of love, yeah
The song "Oz of Love" by Rome is a tribute to a special someone who has been a constant support system in the artist's life. The lyrics describe the memories shared together, including skipping school to jam to the Grateful Dead and just driving around with each other. The artist feels that time slows down when this person is around and they bring a lightness to his life, which is why he asks for an "oz of love" to get through a rough week. Despite others saying that this person is "no good" for him, the artist rejects their claims and cherishes their special relationship.
The song's repeated emphasis on wanting an "oz of love" suggests that the artist is looking for something specific - whether it's the emotional support of his friend or something more physical is open to interpretation. The chorus is catchy with the repetition of the phrase "eh, eh, eh, eh, ooh, oz of love, yeah" making it hard for listeners not to sing along. This song is a celebration of a deep connection between two individuals, something that is difficult to find and maintain in today's world.
