Cyclone Fence
Rose Blossom Punch Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

she, she said to me
remember when the sunshine left us clean
oh, she wants to know
do you remember letting go

we let the hour come steal away the llight

oh, my frail will
takes along another chance to kill
hatred in your hand
couldn't i have been a simple man

we let the hour come steal away the light
and then it kicked my sober face into the night

oh woe am i

come wash away my sin
and let me open up this door against the wind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Cyclone Fence by Rose Blossom Punch speak of a person reminiscing about a time when they were free and unburdened. The opening lines, "remember when the sunshine left us clean" creates a feeling of nostalgia and longing, recalling a time when life was simpler and the world seemed brighter. The singer is then asked by someone else, "do you remember letting go" which could be interpreted as a reference to a specific moment where they chose to abandon their carefree ways.

The following lines, "we let the hour come steal away the light" and "takes along another chance to kill" suggest a sense of regret and a feeling that they have missed out on opportunities in life. The use of the word "frail" to describe the singer's will hints at a sense of weakness or vulnerability, as if they have given into their fears or anxieties.

The climax of the song is reached when the singer declares, "oh woe am I, come wash away my sin, and let me open up this door against the wind." This suggests that they are seeking redemption or forgiveness for their past mistakes and hoping to start anew. The door against the wind is a symbol of resistance against the forces of life that seek to push them down.

Overall, Cyclone Fence is a powerful and emotional song that speaks to the human experience of regret and longing. It is a reminder that life is fleeting and we must seize every opportunity while we still can.

You wouldn't know this is Christian rock music. It was too good and too dark for the Christian music industry to get behind it. Really sounds like that last Poor Old Lu album, another great pre-Tooth&Nail Christian band ignored by the Christian music industry. The Christian music industry exists to make money and pump out Christian propaganda, not to make good music. Aaron Sprinkle probably could have gone crossover/mainstream, but I see that he is now playing these same 25-year-old songs on an acoustic guitar in church venues.... kinda depressing.
